Tales from my teenage years...

I wrote a blog post last year about my teen Becky and how she was shielded from things....I mentioned that I cringe at what I was doing when I was 14/15. These are a few of the stories of what I got up to when I was her age.....I really hope my dad doesn't read this. Come to think of it I really hope Becky doesn't read it either.....

When I was about 14 years old I lived on a farm.....About a mile away from the nearest small village. My best friend lived in the village....One weekend we decided to have a little fun. She said she was sleeping at mine and I said she was sleeping at her house.....It was nothing strange. One of us would always be at the other persons house over the weekend....We had plans of sleeping in a little hut we had made a couple of years before on the furthest field away from the farmhouse I lived....

We left our house in normal clothes with little shorts and tight tops underneath. We took the frumpy clothes off and hid them in a hedge and went off to meet some boys from the next village over....They had bottles of Castaway. The first alcopop I can remember drinking. lol I may have also stolen some Gin from my dad....Oops.

The night ended with my friend running down a hill and twisting her ankle badly. We ended up back at her house and a trip to A&E. This was at about 2am. Her mother was furious. Thankfully my parents never found out even when I toddled the mile back home, with barely any sleep and my first ever hangover. I seriously thought I was dying but couldn't tell my parents....

That same year I thought bunking off school was cool....When my parents found out it wasn't.....I bumped into my dads friend and just ran. He casually mentioned he'd seen me to my mam and all hell broke loose.....In hindsight if I had stopped and talked to him he probably would have said nothing.....I was grounded for 3 weeks! My dad took me into school and told them I had bunked off school and they looked into their attendance records and saw I had quite a few days off over a few months. They were all unknown to my parents....I had a month of detentions after school but that led onto another problem.....

I was in year 9 having a month of detentions and was mixing with older boys.....Those in year 11. Obviously they had older friends...Friends with cars. My parents would not have approved of me riding about with 17 and 18 year old's but thankfully they didn't know and the boys were sensible drivers. Phew!

We won't even go into the this was around the time I started smoking....Well actually when I was about 12 or 13. The amount of detentions I had for smoking on the school grounds was crazy....I used to tell my parents the detentions were for not doing my homework which seemed more acceptable.

Did you get up to any mischief in your teenage years?

  2. oh my what a naughty girl you were!! It certainly makes you think when you have teenagers yourself. I did sneak out in the middle of the night to go for moonlight walks with my neighbour, but I was never caught. I never smoked because I just didn't like it and I never bunked off school. I don't think I was ever grounded, but I did spend evenings at home because all of my friends had been grounded. Jeez, I sound like an angel, but I'm sure I wasn't really, just good at not getting caught ;)

  4. Schools were a lot more strict when I went. Wouldn't have even considered bunking off school fearing the consequences, from the school and my parents!

  6. My friend and I once snuck out around midnight to see if we could do it. We met and there was nothing to do. Her mom caught her but didn't tell my mom. I went home and to bed having learned there wasn't much to do at midnight in my neighborhood and I was lucky to have not been caught. She was grounded for 2 weeks.

  8. Hi Kim, I do hope hope Becky doesn't read this too or things could get fun for you! On of my best mates growing up was the lad who lived two doors up, & when his parents where away I would creep out the house and go to his, where we would sit and watch telly and put the world to rights until the sun came up and it was time for me to creep back home... The other thing was going to night clubs whilst under age. One thing that did teach me is that I hated nightclubs/noise/alcohol/crowds and there was nothing wrong with not going. You can say that behaviour taught me a bit about myself at a young age!

  10. YES I got up to lots of mischief, but when the kids ask I say I was an angel as a teenager lol. My teen is nearly 16, and I think he is a pretty good teen compared to me. Though of course I am never going to admit that he he x

  11. Ha - you little rebel - I salute you! I'm afraid I wasn't anywhere near as bold as you, although I did perfect the innocent face in class after having been the perpetrator of the chaos!! Thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo
