We weren't going to celebrate Valentine's day.

Stu and I had planned not to do anything for Valentine's day, we weren't even going to bother with cards but then I caught Stu on with ordering me a bunch of flowers and that set us both off having a few days celebrating Valentine's day. hehehe

Beef Wellington

I ordered the Valentine's day meal deal from Morrisons, I did check the other supermarkets and there was too much food that we weren't keen on so Morrisons came out on top. You know the deal, starters, main, 2 sides, dessert and a bottle of wine for £15. It was such a good bargain considering if we bought everything separately it would come to around £31.75.

For starters we had the Best Garlic & Cream Cheese Mushroom and the Garlic Ciabatta Breadsticks which were classed as a side dish for the main course but it didn't matter. For the main we had Beef Wellington, minted new potatoes and honey roasted carrots, they weren't part of the meal deal.

The beef wellington was amazing, it just melted in our mouths and it was cute too with the little heart on top. For dessert we had Belgium Chocolate Brownie Puddings with ice cream and I washed it all down with a bottle of prosecco. I am not usually that keen on prosecco but this rose one was just to my liking.

On Sunday morning I didn't mind getting woke up by the DPD delivery driver as he brought me a bunch of flowers. Stu knows I have always wanted some rainbow roses so he chose well. I think they came from Funky Pigeon. They are so pretty and seem to be lasting well so far.

By the time Valentine's day came around I had planned another couple of treats for us. Heart shaped crumpets and an afternoon tea from Kettle and Crumb. It isn't a website or company I had used before but I was so impressed.

The food that arrived tasted so good, it looked amazing and there was plenty of it, more than enough for Stu and I. We had some for tea and then some as a snack later on.

So we had a great Valentine's day despite leaving everything until the last minute to plan. There are going to be a couple of negative reviews left on ebay. Both Stu and I ordered each other a card and both said they would arrive by yesterday but they didn't. Hmmf. I guess Valentine's day will spread to a 4th day. lol

Did you do anything nice for Valentine's day?

  1. it looks like you both had a great time and some good food. Unfortunately for me, Craig does not like beef or afternoon tea so we couldn't have what you had. We didn't do anything except exchange cards. I wish we had done more.

  2. It looks like you had a lovely celebration! We don't do much for Valentine's Day, only cards and I always get a box of Maltesers! I love the look of the afternoon tea, especially the cakes!

  3. What a lovely 3 day Valentines Day celebration! Your food looks delicious and the roses are beautiful. I have only ever seen rainbow roses in one florist here in Sydney and they were super expensive.

  4. We don't normally bother with Valentines Day although I may have bought Graham a card in the past. This year he took the kids to school and came back with a big bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates. I was really surprised. I didn't get him anything...ooops! I love your afternoon tea, that looks really nice. I'm not keen on Beef wellington but your meal looks really nice. Ah, you pair of lovebirds :) xx

  5. That is wonderful! We did more than usual this year too; when my husband heard I had bought him chocolates and a card he felt guilted into taking me to dinner a movie. We had a very fun night out.
