Battle of the cut-price Christmas dinners...

Morrisons is bringing the affordable festive cheer this year and has been crowned the cheapest supermarket to buy a Christmas lunch.....

According to research conducted by lovemoney.com the store offers lunch for eight people at just £2.88 per head.....

And for your money you get...

Turkey: Whole basted British frozen turkey, 3.6 – 4.8kg, £10
Vegetables: Unwashed potatoes, 1kg, £1.18
Button frozen sprouts, 1kg, £1.00
Frozen parsnips, 750g, £1.00
Carrots, 1kg, 59p
Sage & onion Stuffing, 85g, 15p
Cranberry sauce, 200g, 82p
Christmas pudding, 454g x 2  at 85p each = £1.98
Iced top fruit cake, 900g, £3.50
Brandy butter with Courvoisier, 200g £1.85
Mince pies 9 pack,  £1

TOTAL    £23.07

Where's the Pigs in Blankets & Yorkshire puddings though....hehehe

I would probably use Morrisons if we had one closer but to get the Christmas food shop from there would cost bus fare there and taxi fare back which would come to about £12! So we'd basically be paying the money we saved on traveling...

We are getting our Christmas food shop from Asda.....In fact I already have the delivery slot booked...I have for a week or so now...If nothing goes wrong it will be coming on the 23rd....Then if something doesn't get delivered I will still have Christmas eve to dash out and find it for myself....

I love doing the Christmas food shop....I totally go over the top....

  2. I have to admit we always had an M&S Christmas, partly as I'm a veggie, so I never went down the whole turkey route! As I always used to say to people, I don't cook on Christmas Day, I oven... Now it's a different story. No M&S! #PoCoLo

  3. Wow what a difference between Morrisons and Waitrose! In UK I used to try and buy all the veggies from a farmer's market and order the Turkey from the local butcher. Just had Thanksgiving here in the US so haven't thought about Christmas dinner yet.

  4. I love the Christmas food shop. I have my slot booked from October :) And my menu is all ready... Now all I have to do is keep my fingers crossed everything will get delivered on time and we will stay reasonably close to budget!
Love this time of year :)
