Doors open at 6.15pm, performance starts at 7pm. Young governess Jane Eyre arrives at the mysterious Thornfield Hall deep in the Yorkshire moors and meets enigmatic Mr Rochester. Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Charles Dickens’ unforgettable story of love, family and friendship set in the depths of Victorian England. From the haunting marshlands of Kent to the bustling streets of Victorian London, this epic tale follows the fortunes of a young Pip as he falls in love, finds his fortune and makes his way in the world. This beautiful romantic tale is brought to life with traditional music, full period costume and a whole host of colourful characters, from the dangerous convict Magwitch to the elusive Estelle and of course, the eccentric and mysterious Miss Havisham.

Cheer on performers Dressed to Kill Knights, fighting knights and duelling warriors, as they perform in a combat display. Join us for medieval mayhem, experience living history, duelling displays, test your skills at have-a- go-archery and get involved in interactive plays.

This August Bank Holiday at Belsay Hall Castle & Gardens in Northumberland you will feel the heat of this fiery contest as rival knights show their prowess at archery and lordsmanship. Brandishing blades and bows they'll face each other in a test of strength and skill. Explore the medieval encampment guided by the smell of fire-cooked food and the sound of merry music. Let the little ones show off their bravery with knight's battle drills out on the field.

Wednesday 30th - Thursday 31st August.
Join our costumed master medieval falconers, Raphael Falconry at Warkworth Castle in Northumberland and be wowed by demonstrations of the Sport of Kings. Witness spectacular aerial displays of birds of prey in flight and discover how these birds were used by the nobles of the Medieval period for sport and for the table. You can also meet our medieval Lord Chamberlain and decide whether Kings of the time were ‘Good, Bad or Sad’ in interactive family shows.
