What I loved in April 2021.

It's May already, how did that happen? This year is flying over. I know I say this every month but it really needs to slow down.

April was a good month. There was lots of sunshine, the country was opening back up after all the lockdowns and I got to see people.

A heart card coming out of an envelope

Vaccines.
We have all had our vaccines here. I was the last of my family to get it and didn't feel great for a day or so afterwards, just achy, hot and cold and tired but it was worth it to know I am that little bit safer. I have also seen friends online getting theirs and it has made me so happy. My dad has his 2nd vaccine at the end of April and the side effects hit him hard. He said it felt like having Coronavirus again but without the cough. The side effects only lasted a couple of days and he's fine now.

Lost.
A horrific plane crash leaves 48 passengers alive, and stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific. The survivors include doctor Jack, now freed prisoner Kate, one hit wonder rock star Charlie, Iraqi military vet Sayid, and a mysterious man named Locke. For a while their goal is simple survival, but they soon realize that it was far more than mere chance that brought them together, and each of them has a purpose that will help them unlock the island's secrets.

I rewatched the tv show Lost and I think I finally understood most of it after reading up about it online. I still have questions though. Who was Libby. It was never explained, why was Walt special? What was the point of the numbers? How was a cork holding together an Island? How was a horse on the island? What was the thing about pregnant women dying?

Being outside.
With the restrictions being relaxed we could meet people outside and have them in our gardens and visit theirs and we have made the most of it. Becky's girlfriend has visited our garden, we've met up with friends at the park and for coffee and I have been to my dad's a lot. The weather has been lovely, mostly so it has made it easier to spend time with people we care about. Even the kids have been out more. Our local park had a makeover and it is pretty amazing and Ellie has been there most days.

Getting fitter and losing weight.
With being outside more and walking more it got me thinking about losing some weight and getting fitter. Staying home during the lockdowns and not being very active has not been good for me. I have put on a few extra pounds and can already feel the weight dropping off me. I have also had a bit of help with working out at home using the The Leg Master that I was sent to review. My legs are feeling stronger and are aching less when I do a lot of walking.

The Leg Master

GCSE Options.
In March Ellie picked her GCSE options. She chose engineering, geography and business. We kept our fingers crossed and a couple of weeks ago she came in from school not happy at all. She didn't get engineering. Eek. Engineering is something she has wanted to do since she was about 6 years old when she found out what it was.

When she picked her options she did it online from a list but since then the school have worked out the timetable for September and it turns out Geography is at the same time as Engineering so she had to pick from History, Art, Photography, Performing Arts or French. She was not happy.

We had a plan. If she chose History she could then do Engineering without anything clashing we just had to speak to the school about it. We spoke to them and they were fantastic and said that's no problem at all as long as she tries her hardest in History. She will and we will make sure of it.

Having motivation.
I don't know if it's because I am being more active or because the sun has been shining more but I feel more motivated now than I have in months. We are in such a good routine at the moment and I think that is a factor too. I have been getting lots of little jobs done around the house which I have been putting off for months and feel like our life is organised.

Grey's Anatomy.
This just made it into the April. How have I not seen Grey's Anatomy before, it's been on since 2005. Even my dad has seen a couple of episodes in the past. lol If you like shows like Casualty and Holby City you'll like this too.

Surgical interns and their supervisors embark on a medical journey where they become part of heart-wrenching stories and make life-changing decisions in order to become the finest doctors.

I am already 5 series in and I am well and truly hooked. It is strange seeing all the people I know from other TV shows. Negan off The Walking Dead was the biggest surprise. I already have my favourite characters. Cristina, Dr Miranda Bailey and George. I've laughed and cried and I am not even half way through the episodes. The episodes I've seen so far are brilliant! The one's that stick in my mind are two strangers impaled by a pole, the one with the bomb in the man, the boat crash and I don't like Owen Hunt with the pigs!!

What did you love in April?

  2. Glad to hear you got your daughter's schedule worked out. It is tough to have their dreams crushed over a silly thing like a schedule conflict.

No matter how they try to explain it they dropped many threads on Lost. I had such high hopes and the stories I was most engaged in never seemed to be answered.

I love that the perennials we planted years ago when we moved in popped up and by the end of the month were starting to bloom as we move through the spring schedule.

  3. Lost was one of those shows that I wanted to like but kept having so many unanswered questions about and I think I gave up 1/2 way through.

  4. Good for you for working out with the Leg Master! So wonderful that we are all approaching a more normal situation with the vaccines becoming plentiful. At first, I thought I had no side effects from my 2nd dose. Then, 36 hours after I got my shot, I felt soooo tired. All I wanted to do was sleep. I feel fine now, though.
