This week my Word of the Week is: Difficult! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

This was a difficult blog post to write because I wanted to respect Becky's privacy but couldn't really say nothing because her "girlfriend issues" have dominated our week. Becky has given me permission to share some of our week and I am grateful for that.

Becky and her girlfriend have split up. It's public knowledge now so I can say that. Profile pictures of them together on Facebook have been changed and they've changed their relationship status too. Both of them didn't want to change things like that in case they offended the other one and as they weren't really talking it was difficult. They have both made mistakes over the past week but thankfully they have now come to an understanding where they're giving each other space but are still staying friends.

They have both taken the break up hard. They were together for nearly 2 and a half years but they're both getting there. I spoke to "A" during the week, cleared the air and had a good chat with her mum when they came to pick some clothes and stuff that she had left here. They have made me chuckle, neither really used Facebook before this week but now they're both posting funny pictures and things trying to prove to each other that they're OK. I am sure they will be OK but at the moment I think they are finding it difficult to remember what they did with their time before they became a couple so now they're trying to find a new normal.

After Becky cancelled the holiday that she had booked for her girlfriend/ex's birthday she has had the money burning a hole in her pocket so to speak. I talked her out of booking Billie Eilish concert tickets but she has bought a new phone, she could have made do with her old one but she wanted to treat herself. It works out well because Ellie was in need for a new phone and Becky has donated her old one to her.

As well as Becky finding this week difficult I have too. I have been trying to keep the peace between Becky and her ex and it's been exhausting. I am so glad they are in a better place now, I feel like I can relax a little.

Stu went for his job interview and it went well. The only problem was that they were not too sure about him because he can't do the late shifts. The place shuts at 8pm but the last bus from town is 7.10 so that makes things difficult. Stu even looked about cycling there and back but the roads between here and Scunthorpe seem so dangerous. I class them as country type roads and I'm always reading about crashes on them so cycling isn't ideal. We are still waiting to hear if he has got the job or not.

How has your week been? I hope you've had a good one.

  1. It's hard when a couple splits not only for them but for their families too. You sometimes feel like you are walking on eggshells. I am glad Becky and her ex have come to an understanding. They are both still young and who knows what the future holds for them both.

  2. I've not had to experience this yet! My older kids have had relationships but nothing serious so splitting up has resulted in bad moods for a few days nothing more. 2 1/2 years is a long time together so I can imagine how hard it must be for them both, and for you. Big hugs. xx Maybe if Stu gets the job he could consider a car share or even driving lessons if he'll be earning more? It was the best thing Graham ever did learning to drive and he was in his late 30s. I didn't drive until I was 30 too (after my ex left me and I actually had the freedom to do as I wished.) x

  3. Oh that is so tough; hoping both Becky and her girlfriend continue to work through to finding a better headspace and manage to stay friendly. It sounds like they have reached a level of maturity that most people don't ever have with their ex's.

  4. Sorry to hear it's been a bad week all around. Peace might seem a little ways away but I am sure things will settle even better. I wish Stu well with the job thing.

  5. Aw break ups are never easy. Sending Becky massive hugs.
Keeping everything crossed for Stu! I hope they manage to work around the shifts some way or another. I think I would worry about cycling on the dangerous roads too, it's just not worth taking the risk. xx

  6. Ahh big hugs for Becky, and for you ! Tough times to work through. And even if Stu doesn't take the job, at least they wanted him - that must be reassuring :)

  7. Sorry to hear that Becky and her girlfriend have broken up. Break ups are hard and it does take time to adjust to new normals. I'm glad she and A have come to an understanding and things sound like they're settling down. Hope that treating herself helped Becky feel a little better too. Good luck to Stu with the job - I hope they can work things around with the shifts - it doesn't sound like they are good roads to be cycling on. Hope that the weekend gives you all some time out to relax and that next week will be a better one x #WotW
