Favourite Book/Series. #NotJustAMom

Here I am linking up with the Not Just A Mom ladies: Adrienne at Mom Life With Adrienne, Dara at Not In Jersey, Jen at Show Me and Sweet Tea, Joanne at Slices of Life, Lauren at Don't Mind our Mess and Sarah at Toronto Sam.

This months prompt was Favourite Book/Series and I had no idea what to write about as I am not a big reader. The only series of books that I have read are the Fifty Shades of Grey one's and the less said about them the better, my defence is that everyone was reading them so I had to as well. The other series of books that I have read since leaving school were the Harry Potter one's. I am such a big fan of the series! I have all the merchandise. Clothes, bags, make up, ornaments, Lego bedding, kitchen accessories and goodness knows what else.

Life can be a rollercoaster of adulting with it's responsibilities multiplying like Cornish Pixies so anything Harry Potter is a bit of an escape. At the moment I am slowly rereading the books, I am currently on the the Prisoner of Azkaban and I have recently watched all the movies and keep catching them again as they are being shown on TV on a Saturday evening in the run up to Christmas. My eldest Becky who's 21 years old saw some of The Goblet of Fire on TV a few weeks ago and said no, I'm not watching! I don't like him, he really scares me! lol She was on about Voldemort. hehehe She has always been scared of him, bless her.

Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore and Hagrid are like old friends who've been with me through thick and thin. I have grown up reading about them and watching them. They all have their own unique qualities. Dumbledore is the wise one, Hagrid like that loveable uncle, Fred and George are the funny one's and there is of course Harry, Ron and Hermione and the amazing friendship that they have. Harry being the all rounder, Ron being a little bit silly and Hermione being the sensible one.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is my favourite book/movie from the series. All of the characters seemed to grow up a lot and there was of course the Triwizard Tournament. It is where everything started to get darker and a little bit more serious. It was also the first appearance of Mad-Eye Moody who is one of my favourite characters although in that film he was Barty Crouch disguised as him. Plot twist! There was also the yule ball which provides a mix of humour, awkwardness, and romance.

Are you a Harry Potter fan?

  1. The Harry Potter series has made many folks fans of the series who don't normally read. It's just outstanding for adults and children.

  2. I read the series probably 10 years ago. I look forward to reading it again and rewatching the movies. I will probably wait until my son is older though so we can enjoy it together.

  3. It's been awhile since I read the Harry Potter books, but I remember how much joy they brought me! It may have been the last series I read as well...

  4. Do you know I've never read any Harry Potter? Shocking, I know! I've always believed it to be very well-written to draw in so many devoted fans of all ages. But I guess it's just not my style!

  6. My son loved the first few Harry Potter books...then I think they just got too long for him to read/he outgrew them. I've never read one, but as an English teacher, I know that so many kids found a love for reading because of that series.

  7. I really like Harry Potter but I have been a bit off the series since JK Rowling has become fairly homophobic. I feel like her views have done a lot of harm to my LGBTQ friends and community so I'm torn as to how to feel...
