This week my Word of the Week is: Christmas! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Christmas

It has to be doesn't it! I hope you have all had a wonderful few days? We did, it was different but it was so relaxed. From now on I want to eat Christmas dinner on Christmas eve!

Our Christmas officially started on the 23rd. My dad's birthday and the day when we start tucking into all the Christmas food and treats. Monday was also the day where I started prepping the Christmas dinner. It felt less rushed than previous years doing the cooking. I had the meat in the cooker and was cooking other stuff in the air fryer!

On Christmas eve Becky finished off wrapping what she needed to, I was so happy I wasn't the last one wrapping. hehehe The girls and I got on with finishing the Christmas dinner off to eat when Stu got in from work!

It of course was amazing. My girls have changed so much over the last few years, about 5 years ago neither of them were keen on the vegetables and stuffing but this year their plates were piled high and Ellie's favourite thing was the stuffing. They both still won't eat sprouts though. hehehe I of course made more than enough to keep us going on leftovers for the next couple of days.

A few months ago I said we weren't going to do matching pj's this year, I didn't stick to my word. I was in B&M at the start of December and saw some lovely one's for us. Considering they were only £10 a set they are so comfy and cosy.

Matching Christmas pj's

The best thing about my girls being older is that they are in no rush to get up on Christmas morning, they are still excited but there's no getting up at 5am. We got up at a very reasonable time, half past nine. Becky needed to be up so she had time to open her presents, have something to eat and then go back to bed for her night shift.

We were all very happy with the presents we received but Santa did mess up! There is a bag of pressies missing which included some slippers and pj's for Ellie, a hoodie and some selection boxes. Oops! It didn't matter, she had more than enough to open.

The guilt of losing the presents got to me so Ellie and I went into town yesterday to pick a few things up and on the way home on the bus I realised where the box of presents might be, in the cupboard where we store the decorations. Stu put the boxes back in the cupboard full of our normal ornaments after we put the Christmas tree up and I think he picked an extra box up, the one with the presents in. The tree and decorations are coming down today so we'll see.

Becky was so hard to buy for this year as if she wants anything she just buys it herself throughout the year but she was so happy with everything that she got. I usually refuse to buy footwear online as it's really hard to get the size right but I took a risk and bought Ellie the boots online and I am glad to say they fit perfectly, she wore them all day yesterday, walking about. Phew!

Christmas day was such a relaxed day! I didn't have any cooking to do so I spent the day faffing around with my presents. I had a long shower in the bath, tried out some of the skincare products that I got, straightened my hair with my new hair straighteners and did my nails. It was so different from previous years. I spent the day watching the TV which doesn't usually happen and it was amazing! Did we all watch Gavin & Stacey? I think it was the highlight of my day! I loved it, it was the perfect ending! I didn't see that coming with Pete and Dawn or the thing with Dave Coaches. I went all Pam and shouted at the TV "Oh my Christ". lol

So today we tidy up! The house is still in chaos, we're living in our pj's and I've done no housework since Christmas Eve. It has been a good Christmas! I hope you all had a good one too? I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!

  1. Sounds like a wonderful holiday! There always seems to be a present mishap of some sort. My mom was famous for buying something super early, hiding it, then having no idea where it was she hid it lol. Glad you had a nice day with your family. I'm a fan of matching pjs!
