Myself and my family have had quite the year with lots of highs and lows but here we are almost at the end of it and it's just another chapter in our lives. Here's to a new year! I am of course linking up with Erika and Andrea to share my favourites but this time it's not from the past week, it's things from the past year! It was going to be just one blog post but I soon realised I had way more to write about than I initially thought, so here we go!
This linky!
I have joined in mostly every week linking up with my Friday Favourites. Even on the bad weeks I have found things that have made me happy and have made me smile. Blogging has changed over the years. I like to read about people and their lives and there isn't many bloggers still doing that here in the UK so I feel like I have found so many new blogs to read through this linky! I started off just reading the Friday posts from everyone who links up but now I read a lot of your blogs regularly.
Gel nails!
For Christmas 2023 I got a gel nail set with everything I needed including the base coat, nail polish colours, top coat and the UV light thing. I have been using it throughout the year and I have improved with applying the colours. I've got to the point now where the gel nails last a good couple of weeks, as long as I don't pick it off.
Our local pub!
Back in March there were new owners at our local pub and they have been fantastic. There's regular entertainment on, we loved the bingo nights and their food is top notch! We usually go about once a week now. We loved the big weekend of bands and acts that they had on at the start of the summer. We were worn out with all the dancing we did by the end of the weekend.
New kitchen appliances.
I got an air fryer at the start of the year and apart from our kettle it is the most used kitchen appliance in my house. If I can cook something in there I will and now use it more than my oven! The most surprising thing that I cooked in it was soft boiled eggs. They come out perfectly every time! 10 minutes at 120C. January was an expensive month for us. We didn't only buy the air fryer we bought a tumble dryer too, another thing now that I couldn't live without! I used to air dry clothes on airer's in the colder months and they would take forever to dry but now I just pop them in the dryer and as a bonus it warms the kitchen up too!
Ellie's college!
They have been absolutely amazing over the last year! I am not going to go into the in's and out's of why but despite me always saying there is less communication between parents and college as the kids get older, they have been on the ball at keeping me informed about things and I couldn't be more grateful! I have a few people who are always there at the end of the phone and they have been a massive support to Ellie and my family!
Gosuto meals!
I am still a massive fan of the Gousto recipes which we get delivered most weeks. They encourage me to try new recipes and keep me motivated in the kitchen. My family wouldn't eat lamb as they thought they didn't like it but one of our favourite meals is the Minty lamb and potato stew! We love the Sticky Honey Mustard Posh Dogs With Chips and most of the Chinese style dishes!
Becky travelling!
Becky has had quite a few breaks away over the past year. She never goes for more than a few days at a time due to working but she's had a great time. Her and her girlfriend have found their favourite place, Newcastle up in the North East. It's great for shopping and has a great night life. They are planning more trips for 2025.
Wrestling! (The WWE)
Early on in the year I got back into watching the WWE wrestling on TV. I am blaming TikTok, I kept seeing clips and wanted to know what was going on. I have been hooked ever since. I save the episodes of Raw and Smackdown and watch them on a weekend and I am very excited for January when they move to Netflix.
What have been your favourite things in 2024?
There are so many wonderful favourites for 2024! We got a dryer a couple of years ago, and I honestly don’t know how we managed without it for so long! They’re life-changing! Your nails look amazing, and that gel nail set must be so handy. I didn’t realise you could buy it with the UV lamp included!
