This week my Word of the Week is: Away! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Away

I hope you have all had a good week? This week didn't start off that great but as it has gone on it has got better and better.

I was so over the weather at the start of the week and wishing the rain would go away! It was that fine misty rain that seems to get you soaked even though it doesn't look too bad out. We were supposed to be going to see my dad but even he was staying inside out of the rain. I stayed home in my pj's which seemed like a real treat! My dad spend his afternoon making Pease Pudding, one of my favourite things ever! Pease Pudding is something from the North East of England. It is a side dish traditionally served with ham. We can't buy it here unless it's from a tin and that is not the same, we only usually get it when we go away to Newcastle so my dad giving us a tub full was a real treat!

Ellie had an exam and Tuesday at college (she passed it) but it wasn't without it's dramas. I got a phone call 20 minutes before the exam started saying Ellie wasn't there and needed to be! I knew she was there, she had text me to say she was. I thought she might have gone away to the canteen for a snack or something but 10 minutes later I got another phone call saying she was where she was supposed to be. Ellie had gone straight to the exam room and not checked into her usual classroom first, her wellbeing person was just looking out for her and panicked a little too early. Oops!

I have had a lovely bunch of flowers in my living room this week, they weren't even for me. Becky had bought her girlfriend them but instead of getting them delivered to hers she got them delivered here on Tuesday. Oops. She could have taken them home but the problem was on Wednesday after they had finished work they were going away for a couple of nights and the girlfriend isn't going home until Monday as they are in work. They thought was there and I have enjoyed seeing the flowers for most of the week.

I mentioned in my Meal Plan post on Monday how Stu was supposed to be finishing at half past 4 for the next couple of weeks. We were so looking forward to him getting home early but that has not gone to plan. He just can't seem to get away on time, he ends up getting stuck on a call. Ugh! At least all the extra 20/30 minutes are adding up towards his overtime.

Becky arrived home from her break away yesterday afternoon and soon after I headed out. With Valentine's Day being yesterday and Stu having today off work we thought we would make the most of it and have a night away. If all has gone to plan we stayed in a hotel, had a nice meal out and visited a couple of bars. By the time you are reading this I will have had a hotel breakfast, got the bus home and will be trying to think of something to do this afternoon, we have to make the most of Stu being off work.

I am of course linking up with Anne who blogs at Raisie Bay for her Word of the Week linky!

  5. I'm glad the week ended better than it started. Thinking of flowers, we haven't bought any sice the year started! So good for my no spend plan, lol. I'm glad Ellie is doing well, even though she needs reminders to keep up with sertain routines like checking into class first. Before you know it, the school year is over and she is off for a well deserved Summer break. I hope you and Stu had a well deserved getaway too.

  6. It sounds like your week got better and better and I'm sure your night away with Stu was really good. What a mix up with the flowers. I bought myself a lovely bunch of carnations this week and they really brighten up the room. x
