Planting, hatching and growing. #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

There has been a lot of growing things this week.....We planted sunflowers which hopefully should start growing soon. I have remembered to water them and they have had plenty of sunshine. I suck at gardening so keep your fingers crossed for us.

We have also been growing Sea Monkeys.....We added the eggs to the purified water on Saturday and we can see the little things swimming about already. I have a whole blog post about it next week but we're very happy with them at the moment.

Next week the girls and I are going clothes shopping.....They are both growing so quickly. Ellie needs new leggings and Becky needs new jeans.....Usually I will pass clothes down from Becky to Ellie but Ellie isn't keen on wearing jeans. She prefers leggings which Becky has none of. Becky hates wearing leggings. lol Becky also needs new trainers for P.E at school....She only has a couple more sized to go and then she will be in the same size as me....Hooray! I will be borrowing her shoes.....hehehe

What isn't growing is my waistline! I haven't been dieting as such or tried to lose weight but I have been eating less crisps, chocolate, drinking less fizzy pop & walking more....I bought some jeans a couple of months ago which fitted perfectly. They were a size 18. They are now falling off me. I tried some jeans on which are size 16 and were too tight, they now fit perfectly.

We had Ellie's parents evening on Monday.....Ellie is doing well....She isn't where she should be at her writing. Her teacher said she just doesn't write enough and daydreams. Yep. That is about right. She has been like that all the way through school. She hates writing. She will do the bare minimum....Her teacher is on about moving her next to her little friend after the holidays. He is a great worker so hopefully he will encourage her. She is gaining confidence and is a fab at reading so it wasn't all bad.....I can't believe this is her last parents evening before she starts the last year of primary school.....Where did my little girl go. This time next year she will be preparing for her SAT's and starting secondary school.....Eek!

  1. Lots of growing this week! I can't believe that Ellie is nearly in her last year of primary school. How frustrating that you can't pass down the jeans when Becky has outgrown them! Good luck with the sunflowers - we're hoping to grow some this year too. We didn't have much success last year - the only one that really took off got accidentally chopped down when hubby was doing some gardening! Hopefully we'll both manage to get them to grow this year :-) #WotW

    1. I know! I can't believe it either. She's my baby and is growing up far too fast.
      Thank you x

  2. Snap. We've had a week of growing too. We'll be clothes and shoe shopping this holiday. I love sea monkeys. We started some off a couple of Christmases ago and they lasted until the autumn. They are fun and really low maintenance. Perfect. I'm glad Ellie's parents evening went well. My youngest is in the same year and I can't believe it will all be able SATs this time next year. Gulp! #wotw

    1. The growing needs to slow down a bit when it comes to the kids. hehehe
I have read sea monkeys can last up to two years. Eek!
      Thank you x

  3. All about growing! My two keep growing so much, I feel like I'm always buying new clothes lately, and I can never pass Boo's clothes onto Little Man! Well done on your shrinking, though, that's very positive! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

  4. So much growth! I remember we had some sea monkeys some years ago but they didn't survive. I hope you have better luck! My daughter is only 1 shoe size smaller than me and I'm very much looking forward to sharing shoes with her too! #wotw

    1. Oh no, that's such a shame about the sea monkeys. Ours are going great!

  5. I know what you mean, I used to pass my girl's clothes down all the time but now Boo won't wear Star's old clothes because she has completely different tastes, she prefers leggings and tunic tops to jeans and t-shirts. I think I may have the same gap as you too, although there is only two years between my girls, Boo is a regular size for a 9 yr old, but Star is in size 14-15 clothes even though she's only 11!! Well done on losing some weight, it's amazing what dropping the junk food does. I hope Ellie gets better at her writing, I've had that problem with two of my older children but they did get better in time, some kids just don't like writing. x

    1. My 9 yr old wears 10 to 11 and my teen wears 14-15.
It is crazy how much weight junk foods adds...
I think Ellie will never enjoy writing unless it's on her own terms.
      Thank you x

  7. It's so true that they grow up so quickly. You don't believe the first few people who say that to you but when you see it for your own eyes it's scary. #WotW
