This week my Word of the Week is: Calm! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

This week has seemed a lot calmer than previous weeks apart from the news about Boris being took into intensive care. The poor fella. I am not his biggest fan but wouldn't wish him unwell or dead like some people did on Twitter. Shameful. It has seemed like a slow news week in comparison to past weeks, yes the amount of deaths has risen and it's horrible to say it's expected but it is. I saw on the news that Wuhan, where the virus started came out of lock down after 76 days. It has given me hope.

We have settled into a routine. It's officially the Easter holidays now but they don't seem special with the kids been off school a couple of weeks before them. I haven't pressured the kids to do their school and college work but they have been doing little bits.

We have had a lovely week, a really good one. We haven't done much but at the same time we don't seem to have been bored. We've baked, planted more seeds, spent time just sitting in the garden and probably spent too much time playing on the Wii. It's one of those things that the girls don't bother with for months on end then when we get it out it's like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

We've watched a ton of films this past week including the new Trolls one which is brilliant. It was one of the films we had planned to go to the cinema to see so seeing it in the comfort of our own home was a real treat. It also meant I could Google the voices. hehehe Ozzy Osbourne and Kenan from Kenan & Kel did surprise me. We also watched the 2nd Jumanji film which was really good. I would say that though I am a big fan of The Rock & Jack Black.

I have also been messing with my hair over the past week. It was long, frizzy, needed cutting and the red hair dye was fading fast. Who needs a hairdresser when you have scissors and some half bottles of dye. My hair is now a mix of reds, blues, purples, blonde and pinks. I love it and the kids even think it looks cool. They want their hair cut now but I have said no. Cutting my hair is fine but I don't feel confident enough to cut theirs.

Stu ventured into town for the first time in a couple of months to get his glasses fixed and to get a few bits and bobs we needed. The shops around here are great but £3 odd for 6 batteries is ridiculous when the pound shop sells about 12 for £1. He said people mostly kept their distance but there was a few he noticed not playing by the rules and getting up in shop workers faces when they couldn't find what they wanted.

We have all accepted that this is the new normal and even the kids are getting used to not seeing their friends although over the weekend we did see Ellie's best friend for a few minutes when I gave her some of the xbox 360 games we don't use anymore. It was so sad seeing them together and not being able to spend time together.

This is the first week in goodness knows how many that I have felt calm and relaxed. I like feeling like this and I hope it lasts. I hope you are all keeping well?

  1. It feels kind of strange doesn't it, but I'm glad you are all feeling calm. I have to send Graham out today...it's an emergency (we've run out of loo roll!) Have a good weekend x

  2. Love the hair - wow, who needs hairdressers?! Great to hear that you're settling into the new routine. It's the last day of term here and I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks off with quality time to spend with the kids:)

  3. Love the new 'do, Kim! It looks great. I think as the weeks go on and people become used to the new lifestyle, we will be calmer. Hope you have a wonderful Easter! Stay safe.

  4. So glad you are all feeling calm and relaxed this week. I love your new haircut - it really suits you and the colour is gorgeous. Haven't seen the new Trolls film yet but we did manage to finally see Frozen II and loved it. I'm glad that the PM is out of intensive care and on the mend. Like you, I'm not his biggest fan and never will be, but it is entirely possible to dislike someone without wishing ill on them. I'm quite glad I didn't see any tweets that wished him anything but to get well soon. Hope you are all keeping well x #WotW

  5. Your hair looks fabulous!! I too have no problem cutting my own. However, after a few epic failures, I refuse to cut anyone else's hair.

  6. Get you cutting your own hair! You've done a brilliant job, it looks lovely. I would not be brave enough to do my own hair, I just know that I would cock up and have the biggest mardy ever! Haha. xx
