This week my Word of the Week is:
Happy July!! I say it every month but this year is flying over! I have had a pretty normal week including housework, life admin and just the usual pottering about the house. It's been pretty boring for me to be honest. I think the highlights of my week were seeing the new flowers in my garden, making the Gousto meals and watching the new season of The Umbrella Academy. I was expecting a few hiccups throughout this week but everything has gone to plan and was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be which is a massive relief.
It was Becky's last day at college studying health & social care on Wednesday. Her course tutor said that all the work has been marked and everyone in her class has at least a pass so there is no having to resit any of the exams or redo any of the work. We just have to wait until sometime over the next couple of months to get Becky's official grade. Becky is excited and a little bit sad to leave college. She is excited to start full time work in the care home where she's been working part time but sad to leave some of her friends who have another year yet but they're staying in touch and already have some days and nights out planned. I had the job of ringing the Child Benefit people yesterday, I thought I was going to be on hold for ages but everything was dealt with in about 6 minutes and that included the 4 minutes they were giving me all of the information. lol It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.
Stu is getting on well at his new job in a call centre, he has been let loose on the phones over the past week and is finding it easier than he though it would be. In the training it was more reading and writing about answering the phone calls, he said it was hard to imagine putting it into practice until he got on the phones, then it all just clicked into place. He has to have a 33% success rate on calls, helping people and so far he is at 70 something percent which his manager has said is fantastic considering it's his first proper week on the job. He just has to remember not to leave people on hold for too long. lol Yesterday made all the early starts worth it, he got his first pay and payslip. He only got paid for 4 days because the cut off date for the month is the 16th but we have already realised that there is a big difference going from working 16 hours to 40 a week!!
I have had the pleasure of having Ellie home every evening this past week. She has not been playing out with friends after her adventures last Friday night. She went out to play, was supposed to come home at 7pm and didn't. She was also in the next village over from us without telling me, a good half an hour away, was rubbish at answering her phone and was in no rush to come back. Grr! She has been grounded. It has actually been easier than I expected, she has taken her punishment without any arguments, I think she is just trying to get into my good books because we are off out to an agricultural show over the weekend. She knew she had to behave or else I would be keeping her with me instead of being off with her friends. hehehe
I hope you have all had a good week?
I am glad that punishment wasn't too hard to, sometimes as parents we have to do to set boundaries so they know they carnet take piss. Hopefully she will have learnt her lesson X
ReplyDeleteYou're so good at handling all the busy Mom activities - a very busy week
ReplyDeleteYay for an easier week. I know what you mean about that child benefit call. I hate making those calls as they always left me a lot more confused and worried about overpayments etc. Phew! Also glad your younger has learnt her lesson. Well done you for putting your foot down too. Would love to see the garden, and we look forward to hearing about the agricultural show. Have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteYay for an easier week! Congrats to Becky and it sounds like your husband's new job is going so well!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news about Becky and Stu, sorry about Ellie, but I'm glad she took her punishment well. I know you have had a wonderful weekend. I hope this week is restful for you x
