This week my Word of the Week is: Late! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Late

There has been a ongoing trend in my life this week with lots of lateness. None of it has really bothered me thankfully, it has just disrupted little bits of my day.

Stu finishing work half an hour earlier is great but that only leaves him 15 minutes from logging off his computer to get over to the other side of town to catch the bus home. On Saturday he rang me at 4:37 saying he was going to be late but just as he said that a bus near his work pulled up and he jumped on that and hoped he would make the 4:45 bus from the bus station. He did, just with a bit of running and throughout the week he has done a powerwalk/slow jog to make the quarter to bus. One thing is for sure, it's a great bit of exercise for him.

On Monday Ellie rang me at just after 9am saying the college buses hadn't turned up because of a car crash and the road was blocked. Thankfully no one was hurt but she wanted me to ring my dad to ask for a lift as he was on our side of the crash. She had tried but he wasn't answering, I tried and there was still no answer so she was late for college. By the time the road had reopened and the buses started coming through it was after 10am. That's the only thing with living where we do if something happens on one road traffic stops and no one can get through to our little town. I spoke to my dad later on in the day and it turns out my brother was late for work too as he couldn't get out of his driveway as traffic was backed up because of the crash. Ellie's teacher was fine with her being late as all the other people coming from here hadn't bothered going into college at all. Eek!

Ellie has been late home a couple of times this week because of the college buses either being full or just not turning up. I feel better about her coming home later now as it's lighter on an evening as long as she remembers to ring me and let me know.

I feel like I am late to the party with watching the BBC show Waterloo Road. The show about a secondary school. My girls have been watching it for a little while and convinced me to watch it. It's really good and it's like playing a game of where do I know him or her from. As the first series is from the late 2000's all the actors and actresses playing students have grown up and appeared in different shows. There's a lot of soap stars in it.

As I am writing this Ellie has just gone into town to get me a Mother's Day present, I said she's a bit late but she's not worried. I am so excited for Sunday with it being Mother's Day! I can't wait for a day off from doing all of the jobs. hehehe We went to my dad's a bit later than usual and he took Ellie off to do some work with him. She loves working with him, he had her doing some wiring which is great practice for her college course. (It wasn't any serious wiring, just something to do with his car).

This blog post certainly wasn't late! If you read my blog early yesterday morning you may have already seen this blog post, minus this paragraph and a little above it. I scheduled it for yesterday instead of today. Oops! I am blaming the fact that I've spent years sharing my word on a Friday, my head can't get used to doing it one day later (still). lol I thankfully noticed and reverted it back to my drafts, ready for today.

How has your week been? I hope you have had a good one!

  1. Public transport is great until it lets you down. Good job Ellie's teacher was understanding. I'm glad no one was hurt. Sounds like Stu is getting a bit more exercise to catch his bus. I used to love my commute when I worked in town. Cleared my head and set me up for home. I've not watched Waterloo, but I've seen the trailers and I've seen a few characters that I recognize from years ago. Hope you have a good week.

  2. Doesn't take a lot to mess the traffic up where I live either. Glad she managed to get into college though. The kids got me my Mother's Day gifts today, there was plenty to chose from :) Karen - Early Rising Mum

  3. Ugh, buses that don't run or run late or run early cause no end of problems.

  4. Happy Mothers' Day! Enjoy it to the full! And I hope you get waited on too. Good on Ellie for still going in despite being late as it was no fault of hers. I hope Stu continues to enjoy getting home a little earlier too.

  5. Ellie did the right thing getting in and not giving up. It will put her in some good books I'm sure. Our town gets like that if there is an accident, everything comes to a stop, its a nightmare. We are playing catch up with Waterloo Road. We used to watch it before we had Ethan but stopped a little while after he was born. We catch up on iplayer now when we get the chance. We still have a long way to go. Lots of people started off in it #WotW

  6. Well done Ellie for persisting in arriving at college even though she was late, it certainly wasn't her fault. Again this week, I'm late on commenting on all posts...better late than never xx

  7. What a hassle with the bus. It's annoying when they are late or rare. I had the same issue with the buses in Oxford. Where I stayed they were at 30 minutes of each other, so I had to leave early or risk missing it.

    Happy Mother's Day!

  8. Well done to Ellie for persevering and going into college even if she was late. It's frustrating when you can't get the bus because it's full or doesn't turn up - as you say, at least the evenings are getting lighter now which makes it a bit better. Oops to accidentally scheduling the post to go earlier - good job you noticed! I'm late this week with catching up on comments! #WotW
