This months Share Our Lives prompt is: 5 Items you can't live without. The logical side of me says food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter but that would make quite a boring blog post. I am going to think about the luxuries in my life that I can live without.
These are the 5 items that I can't live without.
My Family!
I think this was a given that I was going to say this, I would be nothing without my family. My fella, Stu and my girls especially. Before I had kids I didn't really want to be a mother and now I can't imagine not being a mother. Stu is my person, we have been through so much together and we're together for life. Then there is my dad and his partner Sarah. I am biased but he is the best dad and even though Sarah isn't my biological mother I treat her as one and she treats me as a daughter.
The Internet!
Can you remember a life before the internet? I can just about remember it but it seems so strange now. We have everything at our fingertips now. I use it for everything. I do my grocery shopping online, banking, keeping in touch with family and friends, I blog, play games, shopping for birthdays and Christmas, reading the news, finding out information, paying the bills, checking the weather, getting travel info, finding out about days out, watching YouTube, sharing photos and probably lots of things I can't even think of. The thought of having no internet connection fills me with dread. Imagine not knowing what was going on in the world, it seems kind of scary!
Hair dye!
I couldn't live without hair dye! I have been dying my hair for years, when I first started it was just dark brown to cover the grey hairs which were appearing but now it is partly to cover the grey and partly for fun. I have been so many different colours over the past few years, reds, blues, purples, pinks and I couldn't imagine having a normal colour of hair now. Those 6 different colours were just from 2023.
Squash/Cordial/Diluted Juice.
I read something the other day that in America there is no such thing as squash or diluted juice? Squash is a fruity drink without all the sugar. It's a concentrate that can be diluted with water to make a drink. I can't live without blackcurrant juice. I always have a glass of it besides me. Sometimes I will push the boat out and have orange squash but I have to be in the mood for it.
The TV.
I have my TV on for most of the day. Sometimes I will just have it linked to Spotify playing music but most of the time I will have a TV programme or a film on. I hate sitting here in silence, I need the background noise. I will rewatch some of my favourite tv shows like Breaking Bad, Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friends and The Walking Dead and all the spin offs when I am busy doing other things just for something in the background.

Yes, unfortunately we do not have squash in the US. We make a version of it with pomegranate juice and water, it's ok and refreshing when it's hot but I'd love a bottle of real squash.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you can get nectar in the hispanic aisle at the supermarket - this is the closest thing to squash here, I think - it's much thicker and I dilute mine with seltzer water
DeleteThe internet is a good one! I don't think any of us could live without this one for very long!
ReplyDeleteI remember learning about what squash was when we moved over there. No, I don't think we have anything like that here. Just the undiluted fruit juices. I also wrote about my phone/internet. It's hard to remember life without it. And yes to hair dye! I would be sooo gray without it!
ReplyDeleteIn the U.S. we have Mio. Fruit flavored drops to add to water. Maybe like squash??
ReplyDeleteI love cordial! When the kids were little I was trying to be a good eating example for them. So I had to hide my red cordial and drink it when they were in bed!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink any juice just water, coffee, preworkout, and shakes
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd have hair dye on your list! I can hardly remember what life was like pre-internet.
ReplyDeleteThe internet is a good one. It's hard to remember life without it. I love all the hair colors. So fun. Thanks for linking up with us.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have never heard of squash (unless you are talking about one of my favorite veggies!) and no I can't remember or imagine life pre-internet!!
ReplyDeleteThe internet is a good one, and no, we don't have anything like squash in North America. And I love that hair dye is so integral to your life!
