After it being so sunny on Sunday we decided that we needed a day out and with it being a bank holiday and with the Sunday bus service we were limited to where we could go so there was only one place for it....Newbiggin-by-the-Sea beach. We haven't been in years so it was something different....
Newbiggin is only about a 20 minute bus ride from us and we get a family day ticket which usually costs us about £13.50 but because it was a bank holiday it was only £10! It made up for the fact that one bus didn't turn up so we had to wait about 40 minutes for another.....
We got there eventually and went straight onto the beach....
The couple sculpture is just off the coast was the UK’s first permanent off-shore sculpture....It was once called “the stupidest sculpture of the past 20 years” but I like it. It really makes you look twice.
The kids spent the next hour or so running down to the sea and back again....The next day their legs where aching. I walked down to the sea once and the trek back was hard work....It was up hill and you just sunk into the sand....lol
We of course had to get some chips and an ice cream before we went home. Them's the rules when you go to the beach. hehehe and Ellie came away with a bucket full of shells.
It was a good day out and cheap too. It only cost us about £25 in all....It would have been cheaper if we didn't have chips but the smell of them was so tempting....
What a great day out and practically on your doorstep, lucky you. The girls look like they had loads of fun, there's nothing like a bit of sea air and some chips and ice cream to make a bank holiday fun. I like the statue too, it's very unusual. x
ReplyDeleteIt really was a great day out. We spent longer waiting for the bus than actually getting there. lol x
DeleteAll family tickets are now £10 (on all days) which is fab news - I was shocked when I bought one a few weeks ago as it's quite a price decline. You can't beat a day at the beach can you x
ReplyDeleteOhh! The bus driver said it was because it was a bank holiday. That really is fab news! x
DeleteFabulous day for you all - its obligatory to have chips and icecream !
ReplyDeletehehehe! It's the rules x
DeleteI agree that you can't go to the beach without indulging in some chips can you. Sounds as if you had a lovely day, and doesn't seem too busy with it being a bank holiday x
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely. It was quite busy but everyone seemed to be further up the beach near the park.

DeleteAw such a lovely looking family day - apart from the 40 minute wait for the bus! the video is great, your girls always look such good friends and entertain one another so well, you'll have to pass on the magic tips! A great way to spend a bank holiday Sunday. We actually did exactly the same here, I must get round to writing that one up!
