This week my Word of the Week is:
Nothing exciting or out of the ordinary has happened this week. We have had a week of just plodding along with life....I like weeks like this. These are the things I want to remember in years to come. The normal everyday things.
I think the highlight of my week has been Stu bringing home 9 boxes of Corn Flakes from work. Their sell by date was up so they were going to be just thrown away. The staff get to claim them so he did. We are not keen on Corn Flakes for breakfast so I did a bit of baking with them. Of course I made chocolate Corn Flake cakes and I then had the great idea of making Corn Flake tart. I used to have it at school and haven't had it since.
I made the pastry from scratch, baked that and covered it in strawberry jam. I melted the butter, syrup and sugar in a pan and then covered the cornflakes in the mixture and added it to the base and put it all back in the oven for 10 minutes.....We had it with custard after tea and it was amazing. The kids loved it and it tasted as good as I remembered.
On Sunday when Ellie was in the shower she decided she wanted curly hair. She wanted her hair plaiting and left over night. Of course it was down to me to do it. It didn't actually take that long and she loved the little plaits. She actually wanted to go to school like that. lol
The next morning she was over the moon with the results....On the way to school we saw one of her teachers who said "Ohh, your hair looks beautiful". She was so made up with their compliment. Even yesterday it still had waves in it and I think this might be a weekly thing, she loved it that much.
On Saturday we saw that The Greatest Showman was available for early release to watch on Sky!....We watched it and we loved it. I have since watched it 4 more times and I am nowhere near bored of it yet....hehehe Becky was off school on Wednesday. She woke up feeling shivery, achy and she was sick. She spent the day on the sofa under a duvet and we finally got around to watching Wonder. Oh my goodness. I cried. It is so sad but so happy at the same time....
When I started writing this blog post I thought I had nothing to write about but it turns out I did.....hehehe
Cornflakes all round at your house this week ! I remember that tart from school it was delicious. Ellie's hair looks gorgeous, no wonder she was so happy with it. Have a lovely weekend x #WotW
ReplyDeleteCornflake tart sounds very yummy - I've never tried making it and might have to give it a go now. I used to love having lots of plaits in my hair when I was younger and making it go wavy. Ellie's hair looks so pretty with the waves in it. It sounds like a fun thing to do a regular basis. Hope you have a lovely weekend x #WotW
ReplyDeletePlodding is good, I know just what you mean about the ordinary every day moments. That corn flake tart looks so good, I want it now! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
ReplyDeleteI think she looks cool with the plaits in, too! 😊👍 And that cornflake tarte sounds really tasty. Great that your hubby got 9 boxes for free, always love a freebie! Xx #MMBC
ReplyDeleteIt is good to record the ordinary moments, although 9 boxes is a bit out there. Love the plaits. My girls used to love doing that too. Rags as well. I've read Wonder and if the film is anything as tear jerking as the book, then I'm not sure I could watch it. #wotw
ReplyDeleteThe ordinary everyday moments are definitely some of the most treasured further down the line. Sounds like a good week all in all. I'd have never thought to have made a cornflake tart! #WotW
