A half term trip to Amble.

There is a little fishing town up here in Northumberland which we love.....It is called Amble and the kids have said when they leave home they are moving there and my fella have said when they leave home we are moving there....lol

We visited Amble on Friday exactly a year since the last time we visited and it's almost a year ago since I blogged about our visit to Amble.....lol We hadn't planned it this way. It is just a big coincidence.

Every time we go we do the same things but every time is different....

We always go for a walk up and down the main street looking at the shops. There is always a new one to look at. Last year I mentioned how there was a lot of expensive bistros and restaurants popping up and there was another couple we noticed.....While the Harbour Fish Bar is open they will never get our business....hehehe

Ellie went off to play......Before she left she through one chip on the floor and then we were surrounded by seagulls flapping around....She was oblivious the the chaos she caused....She was having fun, we had seagulls flapping about above our heads....lol

It wasn't the only chaos Ellie caused....See the little island of sand in the picture above....Becky and Ellie went off to play on there and they dug a hole (mainly Ellie). She then decided to get in it and cover her feet in sand. She got stuck. I used it as my Sunday photo and it just makes me chuckle. If the tide was coming in I don't think it would have been so funny....

It was so grey and overcast but surprisingly warm....In fact it was really warm. All that was missing was some actual sunshine. It didn't matter though. It was warmer than some days we have had in Amble.

The kids played for a good couple of hours before we ventured to the rock pools.....I do love the rock pools. It is one big adventure trying not to slip on your bum.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back for the bus. The buses back to where we live only run until about 5/6pm & we didn't want to risk missing the last bus.

We stopped off at the new retail pods which are home to 15 independent businesses selling a range of Art, Crafts, Gifts, Jewellery, Accessories, Food & Drink. They are the cutest little shops in beach huts. Ellie got an ice cream from one and Becky got a hot chocolate and Stu and I got coffee from another.

I hope it's not another year before our next visit....We do love Amble.

  1. Amble is lush isn't it! Steve and I want to move there when we're nearing retirement. The seagulls are crackers though x

  2. Ah I love Amble, my grandparents had a caravan there when I was younger and I would spend summers there, I used to love the markets and seeing the dolphin that used to swim near the harbour. I haven't been to Amble for years I think I will have to revisit, it looks like you all had a lovely day x

  3. It sounds lovely! We have a few beaches, that aren't too far, but they always work out far too expensive x

  6. I would love to be able to reach some place like this by bus. I guess the place I live is not called the Midlands for nothing, hehe. It looks like the girls had so much fun, you can beat a day by the sea with fish and chips and rock pools. x

  7. Looks a wonderful outting, I'm surprised you have left it a whole year. we usually go everywhere by car and a bus journey like this would be a real treat to my kids. I can see from your video the lovely countryside you pass though too. Oh what havoc that one dropped chip caused! There were lots of hopeful seagulls there and wow to the life in those rock pools, you can really see things swimming around on your video. Thank you for sharing such a lovely day with me on #CountryKids

  13. What a lovely day out. Ellie getting stuck in the sand made me chuckle - thank goodness the tide wasn't coming in though! The rock pools look like they were fun to explore. I think I might have freaked out slightly with all the seagulls though! :-) #countrykids
