Project MC2 Ultimate Makeover Bag - Review!

Project Mc2 is on an important mission to help advance girls in the areas of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths). They have fun experiment sets, fashionable real-girl inspired dolls and the Emmy nominated Netflix Original Series.

The Project Mc2 brand believes "Smart is the new Cool" and they want girls everywhere to celebrate it!

Over the past few months we have tried out a couple of the Project Mc2 sets. The Ultimate Spy Bag and The Ultimate Lab Kit. This time we are trying out the Ultimate Makeover Bag!

Create your own makeup with these awesome cosmetic experiments! The Ultimate Makeover Bag assists secret agent experiments while looking amazing, with makeup experiments disguised as art supplies! Create your own custom nail polish, lip gloss, hair mascara, and crayon makeup and take your cosmetic chemistry wherever you go.

The oversized bag opens up to reveal an awesome makeup-mixing and storage station. Use the mixing station to create your own cosmetics, and store them in the containers disguised as art supplies!

The set includes a backpack with storage, a lip gloss pen, a nail polish pen, a hair-mascara tube, a cosmetic jar, 2 pipettes, an experiment booklet and makeup ingredients.

When we first opened it we loved the look of it....Ellie was so excited. She is at the age now where she is getting into make up and cosmetics.

We loved that it features a stand for a smartphone which of course you can use as a mirror, take selfies, watch videos or make your own video with!

We started off by making the nail varnish....It was just a case of mixing the colourant to the nail polish base then using the pipette to put into the nail polish pen.

Ellie loved doing this activity. It was so simple to do and she did it all herself. She loves painting her nails so this was perfect for her.....The container for the nail polish is a genius idea! Why can't adult's nail polish come like this!

Next up was the DIY Hair Mascara which didn't go well....We used the brightest eye shadow we could find mixed it with the clear hair gel, corn starch and put it into the mascara tube.....It just didn't show up on Ellie's hair. It is no fault of the makeover bag it was just Ellie's mousey brown hair was too dark for the colour we chose.

To make the DIY Lip gloss we just had to squeeze the lip gloss from the tube into the lip gloss container?

There were two experiments which we didn't try. We didn't put the make up from the colour wheel into the little drawers in the makeover bag.....We didn't have any coconut oil to mix with the wedges from the colour wheel and we didn't make the DIY Body Glitter because we didn't have any cosmetic glitter...

Ellie loved the Ultimate makeover bag. She is at her happiest when she is mixing and pouring things but she did seem a bit let down that there was not much to this set. It literally was just mixing and putting things in different containers that they came in....The lip gloss is a prime example of this. With the other sets we have tried we have had hours of fun trying different experiments but with this one it was a bit of a let down and we had done everything we could within about 45 minutes....

We did like the phone holder....Ellie loves to play and copy of videos online. That should come with all of the other MC2 bags.

This set costs £54.99 and I don't feel like it is worth it which is a shame considering how good the other MC2 sets are....

The Project MC2 sets are available from Smyths, Argos and all good independent toy retailers....

We were sent this free of charge in exchange for this blog post....All thoughts and opinions are our own.
