This week my Word of the Week is:
The countdown is on for so many things in my families life at the moment. It feels like we are all looking forward and waiting for something.
Becky is counting down the days until she leaves school. She has today, Monday and then finishes on Tuesday after the leavers assembly. She should be home by lunchtime. I still can't get my head around the fact she's going to be finished with school. She is also counting down the exams that she has left! I've just counted and she has 6 left to do but they are spread over the next couple of weeks. Today is going to be a busy day for her as she has 2. English this morning and Science this afternoon. She's coped really well with them, I've done all the worrying for her.
The college rang midweek to say there was an induction pack on the way to us and telling us to apply for a bus pass if needed. I've looked into it but can't apply for one until we know what course she is doing. There's an option of two which depend on what results she gets and she needs to have her interview to find out more information about which course would be best for her. That isn't until the middle of July. There's no rush, the bus pass for doesn't have to be filled in until the end of July.
Stu and I have been cracking on with the packing. Becky's room is done, Ellie's is half done but should be finished over the weekend, our bedroom is done and the living room is half packed too. It is hard to pack when we need to keep things out that we might need over the next few weeks. I'm starting to think we should have just left it and did it all in the week before we moved. lol
I've paid for the post to be redirected to our new house. For 3 months it cost just over £40. An expense we could have done without but it's one less thing to worry about. There's bound to be someone we forget to tell about the move.
It's Ellie's first parents evening at secondary school soon and she is really looking forward to it. We know she is doing well at school because of our meetings with the SENDCO woman but there is a couple of teachers I'll be interested in chatting too. The teachers of the lessons she always seems to get in trouble in. hehehe
Ellie has also started counting down to her birthday. It's not until August but the lists have started. There must be at least a couple of thousand pounds worth of stuff that she wants. She's decided she wants a mid-sleeper bed with a slide which she won't be getting but I have been looking at them with a desk and it might be doable.
Hahaha about Ellie's birthday list. I've already bought Boo's present for her birthday in July (a tablet) and she keeps asking for it. I wouldn't have got it so early but it came in a package with my husbands new phone! I know what you mean about packing, I moved from a real small house and thought it would be ridiculous to have boxes all around us for weeks, especially with three small children. But packing it all up in the last couple of weeks was an absolute nightmare. If we move again, I'll be packed 6 weeks before we go for sure haha. How exciting though, so many things to countdown for. I so hope that Becky has done/ will do well in her exams. And good luck with parents evening. Thanks for linking up to #wotw xx
ReplyDeleteA countdown to finishing school is a big one! I remember doing the same. Good luck to Becky for those last exams and hope she enjoys her leavers assembly. Hope all goes well with Ellie’s parents evening. It sounds like she is doing well. Good luck with all the packing. We paid for post redirect when we moved and it was worth it to make sure we’d changed address with everyone we needed to. #WotW
ReplyDeleteAh packing. Yes. Always takes longer than you imagine. I always start with books, because I have too many and it feels like I've done a lot! I like Ellie's list. We've got two birthdays coming up and I have no ideas what to get. Not long for Becky now. So much to look forward to. Results in August seem ages away. Hope the parents evening goes well. #wotw
ReplyDeleteGosh, a busy few weeks ahead. Hope the rest of Becky's exams go well. And not looking forward to the age when E wants £thousands of stuff! #WordOfTheWeek
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the birthday lists? haha, Ajax thinks he can constantly have everything! My boy finished today, his leavers assembly is 26th, it's mad that they are done. Enjoy the parents evening, I used to hate them lol x
ReplyDeleteSounds very organised and exciting times ahead. I found when I moved the redirecting post really helpful and worth every penny. X #WOTW
ReplyDeleteYay, packing is such a nightmare. We had to move out for three months last year while a big job was done on the houose for pyrite removal in the foundations. Packing was all very well done, by a professional company (part of the grant for the work) and that was awkward enough, but the real tough one was when we moved back, and it seemed to take ages to get the house sorted, and a few items also went missing! Big changes in the school front, too, eh? Bet you will be glad when all thta is settled! Ah, the birthday list ... start at wanting the world and bringing it down to reality (without disappointing them too much) #WotW
ReplyDeleteA bed with a slide? That sounds like a lot of fun. I can understand why your daughter wants one! Now I want one too!! Congratulations to your almost graduate. Off to college soon! I am dreading the day when hubby and I leave our house. We have been here for 30 years and have accumulated a lot of stuff!
ReplyDeleteMoving day will be here before you know it! It sounds like you have it all in hand now. The post redirect is a godsend, we did this and it gave us the time we needed to update our details with everyone. x
