Our weekly meal plan! 28th June - 4th July. #MealPlanningMonday

Our Weekly Meal Plan

Last weeks meal plan went well. We ate just about everything and everything was enjoyed. The garlic mushroom and chicken spaghetti was so good and I think it will become a regular meal here. It was simple to make and my family loved it, even Ellie who isn't keen on mushrooms. On Friday night we had takeaway fish and chips and the portion was huge, I couldn't finish it. I think I will have to get a kids portion in future and on Saturday we had a trip into town, burgers for lunch and a footlong Subway sandwich and cream cakes for tea. We've said that's it for takeaway food for a while.

On Thursday I felt so meh about doing the online food shop and meal planning. I was so unmotivated this past week that I hadn't even booked one in advance and was lucky there was a slot to be delivered on Friday. I'd like just one week where someone does the shopping, meal planning and the cooking. It does get a bit boring. I remember being a child thinking I can't wait to be a grown up and be able to eat what I want. Being an adult is overrated. Sometimes the responsibility is just too much. lol

So ordering the shopping didn't go well and I only ordered the basics like bread, milk, fruit, ham, loo rolls, things like that and that's it. So it looks like we're having a week of eating from the freezer and cupboards which isn't a bad thing. I had a good look through the freezer over the weekend and kept thinking "oh, I forgot about that and that and that". lol  A bonus of my lack of motivation means that the shopping bill was half the price of what it usually is.

On the menu this week we have:

Tuesday - Sausage casserole (out of the freezer) with mash.
Wednesday - Tuna, sweetcorn, onion and mayonnaise pasta.
Thursday - Soup with ham sandwiches to dip in.
Friday - Chicken nuggets, chips and baked beans.
Saturday - Pizza.
Sunday - A roast dinner of some sort.

What are you eating this week?

  1. I set one night aside at dinner and the WHOLE family helps meal plan. Each person has to come up with a minimum of 3 full meals for the month (I plan the whole month at a time). I sprinkle them into the menu so we don't end up with a whole week of red meats and a nice variety but at least everyone is guaranteed a few meals a month that they love and I don't have to plan it all by myself.

  2. Some weeks I feel the same, sitting down today to do next weeks to try to avoid the meh feeling by starting early and having the week to change it up if I need to!

  3. I know what you mean about not knowing what to cook. I'm just about to go shopping and everybody looked blank when I asked them what they want to eat this week! I very much appreciate meal plans like yours - they give me inspiration :o)

  4. I can relate to that lack of motivation - sometimes I get fed up too with having to think about our meals for the week and wish someone else would do it. Eating out of the freezer and cupboards is no bad thing. I like the sound of the tuna, sweetcorn, onion and mayonnaise pasta. #MMBC

  5. I hear you ! I've been freezer diving lately and clearing out some space - it's amazing how much stuff is in there that you forget about ! I've been relying on too many takeaways over the last couple of crazy busy weeks too, so I'm hoping to get back into routine when I'm on holiday. Only ten days to go !

  6. I often feel pretty fed up with the whole meal planning, food shopping and cooking malarkey especially when hubby changes his mind last minute, but it saves money and the panic at 4.00pm about what we are going to have for dinner. I am trying to encourage Emma to cook more as she enjoys it as it is still a novelty for her. I wonder if she will feel the same after doing it for nearly 30 years.

  7. Haha I'm with you on the whole meal planning, it gets so boring, I wish someone else took the lead! We are struggling to stick to it lately and need to get back into it.

    This week sounds delicious!
