Our weekly meal plan! 6th - 12th September. #MealPlanningMonday

Our Weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went well. We ate everything but did swap the weekends meals around and made home made pizza on Saturday night. It was Becky's weekend at her girlfriends and they went out for a meal to an all you can eat place. It sounded amazing and I was quite jealous. They certainly got their money's worth.

I've decided that I've fallen out with Morrisons. I got the shopping delivered on Friday and ordered some treats for me and Ellie. All of them apart from some fudge cake was unavailable. Ham was unavailable and strawberries and I don't believe there was no suitable substitution especially for the ham. I know it's not Morrisons fault, it's down to Brexit but at the moment locally they seem to be the only supermarket unable to deliver what I ask for. 7 subs and 8 unavailable items does seem a lot.

The kids are back at school and college today and they are very excited. Ellie is going into year 10 and is starting her GCSE's and Becky is going into her 3rd and final year of college. I am hoping they both get to do a full year and the virus doesn't interfere. I am excited too, I get two whole days without any kids at home. hehehe Ellie has already started asking for packed lunches but I said give it a week because there will be a new menu with the change of season. I really hate the faff of packed lunches.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Cottage pie.
Tuesday - Waffle pizza fries.
Wednesday - Tomato soup with ham sandwiches to dip in.
Thursday - Sticky apple, sausage & bacon with new potatoes.
Friday - Party tea for Becky's birthday.
Saturday - A meal out at the pub.
Sunday - Toasties probably corned beef & onion. We're obsessed with them at the moment.

What are you eating this week?

  1. I can't believe how many issues you had with your food substitutions and unavailabilty. I tend not to get food delivered unless I have to as I am able to drive and have 4 supermarkets within 2 miles of where I live. Are there no other supermarkets that you can use for your delivery? The waffle pizza fries sound very interesting I have never heard of those. I hope Becky enjoys her birthday celebrations.

  2. More birthday food, ours are all over now, but with the sun making an appearance we could end up using some of our leftover BBQ food. My girl goes into year 10 on Wednesday, the Little Man started year 7 today in a uniform that looks about three sizes two big! (I sent Dad to do the shopping!)

  3. Whenever I order food delivered there is always somethings unavailable and I don't like most substitutions. #MMBC

  4. So frustrating when there are lots of things missing or substituted in the online shop, especially when you meal plan. I've had to rethink mine a few times because key ingredients were missing. I like the sound of the sticky apple, sausages and bacon - one to add to my recipe list! Hope that Becky has a lovely birthday on Friday and enjoys her birthday tea. #MMBC

  5. That's pants with Morriosons delivery. In the last couple of weeks I had deliveries from Ocado (no subs at all, everything arrived as ordered) and Sainsbury's (two swaps but reasonable, i.e. one type of kitchen towels for another etc). Waffle pizza fries sound intriguing, will check it out on your blog.

  6. Sticky apple, sausage & bacon sounds yummy and really easy - thanks for sharing the recipe :o)

I hope that Ellie and Becky have a good school year without any interruptions. It will be nice for you to have some time to yourself too :o)

  7. I love ham sandwiches and I love tomato soup but I'd never thought of putting the two together - sounds great though ! Same for the apples, bacon and sausages - sounds great for autumn too :)

  10. We stopped using grocery pick-up for the same reason; so many unavailable items and substitutions.
