This week my Word of the Week is: Watched! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Watched

I seem to have spent a lot of time watching TV over this past week. In my defence I have been doing other things while I've been watching so it's not like I have done nothing this week as it does seem like I have watched a lot on the TV.

On Saturday I finished watching Angel, the show about the vampire with a soul. I realised that I must have only watched the last season once or twice as I didn't remember much of it. I did remember the ending, I still want to know what happened next. I do love it though and Buffy the Vampire slayer.

It is the final episode of the BBC drama Happy Valley on Sunday and I started watching last Saturday evening. I was late to the party and I binged it all in a few days. There's only 3 series and 6 episodes per series which makes it so easy to watch. I was hooked by the end of the first episode, the cast are just perfect and their acting is just amazing. Tommy Lee Royce is a great villain, I knew he was a total psychopath when he ran over that person. (I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who's late to watching). I am really fearing for Sergeant Catherine Cawood. I've seen the trailers and it is of course the last ever episode. Despite it being called Happy Valley I don't think there will be a happy ending. If Catherine doesn't get killed by Tommy I think her sister will and Ryan will then kill Tommy. Eek!

On Wednesday Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrived on Disney+ so the night before I had to watch the first film and then watched the new one. I enjoyed it but I don't think it was as good as the first one. The tribute to T'Challa and Chadwick Boseman the actor who passed away is beautiful, the action scenes are fantastic, I loved the music and special effects but that special something just wasn't there. It is totally watchable though.

After watching a couple of Marvel films it got me in the mood for more so I am watching them again in timeline order. It's been a couple of years since I last watched them and new things have been added to the list like Loki, Hawkeye and the One Shot shows.

I have of course watched a lot of TikTok. Some times when I go on I will see mostly videos of cats, sometime dogs, sometimes crafts or Harry Styles but over the last few days I have watched a lot of Jewish creators talking about their beliefs and day to day life. I have learned a lot and I am finding it fascinating. I have also learned from TikTok this week that it is so easy to make mayonnaise, the Fi in Wi-Fi doesn't stand for anything, Lewis Capaldi is an hilarious sweetheart and Dave Grohl singing Copacabana is odd. lol

How has your week been?

  1. I saw that you were watching Happy Valley for the first time and as I've never watched it I thought I'd take a look, but Virgin are charging £2.49 per episode for the first series!! I don't know where else you can watch it, but I remember it was the same for The handmaid's Tale and I managed to find it elsewhere. I used to be obsessed with Angel...seriously, I nearly bought a full size cardboard character for my bedroom just before I met Graham. I don't think he would have been impressed, lol. Have you tried Lockwood and Co? I've just finished it and loved every minute. xx

    1. That is a rip off from Virgin. It's on the BBC iPlayer for free. I remember you struggling to watch The Handmaids Tale. I recently watched that again, it's free now through All4. lol I will look into Lockwood & Co. x

    2. ah, I always just click the button on my remote and search and it comes up with Virgin first. I can use the TV remote and use iPlayer and Prime but I've not looked yet. I think I'm getting old!

    3. Sky does the same, automatically searches there first. I was going to watch it off Sky but it wasn't working properly so I Googled where to watch it and of course it's on iPlayer with it being a BBC show. lol x

  3. I just looked up Happy Valley and I can watch it on Binge which we subscribed to not long ago. The trailer looks really good and I enjoy a good British crime thriller. So I'm going to watch it 😊. Thanks for recommending it.

  4. I don't have TikTok, so it was interesting to read what you are watching there. I saw a movie yesterday and loved it, Dog (from 2022), with an army veteran and a Belgian Malinois who was in the army too. It's sad, but it has a good ending.

  5. I've not watched Happy Valley. We've been watching the Marvel films in order and we're up to Shang- Chi, which I've not seen before. You made me smile at your list of Tik Tok viewing. I've not been on for ages. Maybe I should. We've been watching Comedians in cars getting coffee. Some are funnier than others, but it's quite a good way to end the evening.

  6. I hardly watch any TV (apart from Strictly when it's on) but I do occasionally 'follow' TV shows by reading about them online just so I can join in conversations! So while I haven't seen any episodes of Happy Valley, I do know what happened over the series and how it ended. Hope you enjoyed the finale. Sounds like you've been learning quite a lot through TikTok! I tend to find I learn about something online and then fall down a bit of a rabbit hole for a while searching online to find out more. #WotW

  7. I love watching the Marvel films in order (not forgetting the bits after the credits) it makes me appreciate them more. Guardians is my go to I as I find them funny. We watched Wakanda Forever too. I thought they would just replace the panther with another actor so I was pleased that they didn't. I still need to watch Buffy but now I have a desk for work I don;'t have the TV on in the day. Darren doesn't believe me that I don't! #WotW
