Last weeks meal plan went really well considering I didn't have the greatest of weeks. Usually when I stress out the meal plan is the first thing to suffer. One evening when I was dealing with something it got to almost 7pm and I hadn't even started to think about cooking and the girls were suggesting we get a takeaway, I stayed strong and took them to the kitchen and had them help with cooking our evening meal. We had a great time in the kitchen laughing, singing and just being together. It was just what I needed to give my mood a boost.
I loved the meals that we had last week, the soup, meatballs and pot roast were just perfect for the cold weather and a help yourself evening on Thursday was perfect as I was in no mood for cooking after being out most of the day, getting soaked in the rain and the shopping delivery being over 2 hours late. Hmmf. Stu had Saturday off work so we had an afternoon out in town, shopping for some random things that we needed like hair dye and post it notes and we popped into the pub for something to eat, not our favourite one because that has closed down since the owner upped and left on New Years Day with no warning. The conversations on our local Facebook groups have been very interesting. Eek!
Gousto had some Burns Night meals when I booked this weeks delivery, a lot containing haggis and I thought there was no way my girls would even entertain eating it but they want to try it so we'll see how that goes.
On the menu this week we have:
Monday - Steak pie, mashed potato and veg.
Tuesday - Gousto meal - Burns Night Macsween Haggis With Mash & Creamy Sauce.
Wednesday - Gousto meal - All In One Hearty Beef & Mushroom Pie.
Thursday - Gousto meal - Hoisin Pork Burger With Black Sesame Chips.
Friday - Gousto meal - Thai Style Pork Patties With Sweet Potato Wedges. This is a meal we've had plenty of times but the patties are so good!
Saturday - Gousto meal - Pork Belly Hog Roast, Apple Sauce & Stuffing.
Sunday - A fry up! Sausages, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, black pudding and toast.
What are you eating this week?
I'd love to come to dinner at yours tonight. I love steak pie and mash :)

That’s wonderful to have the girls help and the meals sound hearty.
ReplyDeleteYou're great at meal planning! I'm working on being better at this. I'm ordering groceries today, so I'll keep you posted, but my aim is healthy meals this week, with lots of veggies and protein. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI can't see me ever eating haggis. I've read what's in it and that's too much. Your meals sound wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I have to say it is a hard pass on Haggis for me! I loved hearing about your kitchen turn around while making dinner, very nice! #MMBC
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean: stress = a takeaway in this house. I'd love a beef and mushroom pie.
ReplyDeleteI love it when the boys are willing to try something new! I hope this week's menu goes well too.
ReplyDeleteI love how you stayed strong and turned a stressful evening into a fun family cooking session—those moments are priceless! 💖 Your meal plan sounds absolutely delicious, especially the Thai-style pork patties (now I’m craving them!). Funny how life throws little surprises—reminds me of the time I ended up in the Hospital because I tried recreating a restaurant-style steak dinner and nearly set the kitchen on fire! 😂 Enjoy your meals this week, can’t wait to hear how the haggis experiment goes!
