This week my Word of the Week is: Time! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

These weeks in lock down are flying over. It's mad but time seems to be going faster now we're not going anywhere or seeing anyone. It makes no sense but I am not complaining.

Our body clock seems to have shifted a little. We're not getting up out of bed until about 9am or half past, we're going to bed later and the kids are not going to sleep until about 11pm at the earliest. So much for my new years resolution of going to bed by 11pm on a school night. lol It's not a bad thing at the moment, it's not like they have to be up and ready to go to school and college. We've just moved the time we do things at the moment and we all seem happier for it. They are still getting their school and college work done, it might be a bit later in the day but it leaves them less time to be bored on an afternoon before we have tea.

Becky has had a great time doing some online shopping over the last few days. It's her girlfriends birthday next month, her 18th and wanted to get her a few things. A Personalised Face Cushion from Prezzybox was something Becky came across and I think it's both hilarious and thoughtful. The girls are missing each other and haven't seen each other since the start of the lock down when they were both pushing their luck so it will be a nice reminder for "A" seeing Becky's face on a cushion. Becky also bought 2 bracelets so they can have one each and a few Batman things because "A" does love Batman. It made me realise that it will be Becky's 18th birthday in a few months and it got me thinking about what I can get her. How can I nearly have an 18 year old.

Becky had her weekly online chat with her college tutor and classmates on Wednesday and the main tutor said that they won't be returning before September and after half term next week they only have 5 more weeks to complete all the coursework and submit it. Becky isn't worried in the slightest. She is flying through the work and is doing a great job with it too. It doesn't seem 2 minutes since she started college and now she's nearly finished her first year. Time really is flying over!

Stu has spent his time doing a bit more decorating. We had done nothing to the hallway and up the stairs since we moved in. The wallpaper was ancient and coming off all over the place so it was easier enough to strip and it looked so strange with nothing on so Stu did a coat of magnolia paint that we had in the shed. He was lucky, there was just to say enough left in the tub. It already looks so much fresher and brighter and we've not even decided on what we're doing with it yet. I suppose we have plenty of time to decide because everywhere with home delivery has sold out of paint or isn't delivering at all. Ugh.

Ellie has been quite busy this past week. She's been doing really well at getting on with her school work and had a couple of lessons over Zoom which she has really enjoyed. Seeing her teachers and some of her friends made her so happy. She has baked, probably played far too much Roblox and spent lots of time out in the garden. On an evening she has been helping to water the garden and plants and she's taken over the job from me now. I think she has more interest now she can see things growing.

I hope you have all had a good week.

  1. Kim, I'll switch sleeping patterns with you! I woke up at 3.30 this morning, hungry and bursting for a wee. Ah pregnancy. Haha! I'm very jealous of your long lies :)
I'm just like Ellie when it comes to the garden. I find it quite boring, until I see progress with something we've planted. Especially if it's something edible! #wotw

  2. We've been going to bed later and getting up later too. When I'm at work, my alarm is set for 6.15am so that's a big change ! It'll be tough to get back into that routine after such a long break ! Sounds like you're all finding ways to keep busy. I love all the stuff you've been doing around the house. Love the sound of the birthday present too ! :)

  3. Time is behaving strangely since the lockdown, isn't it? Sometimes it seems to be flying. I can't believe we are in our 10th week. Sometimes it seems to be dragging. The worst time for me is the afternoons.

Good for Becky for buckling down and getting her classwork done. She will be a sohopmore before you know it!

  4. It sounds like you've all been quite busy, it's no wonder it feels like time is flying by. It is kind of strange, I am feeling a little cabin fever now, but when I think about how long it's been since we all went out it's a bit of a shock. Let's see if half term passes as quickly! x

  5. Time is definitely flying. For me at least. It sounds like you've got into a good rhythm that suits you all. Boy, is it going to be hard to get back into routine. I have a nearly 18 year old too. She's among the youngest in her year, so I'm used to the idea of her turning 18, as she's catching up with the others. I suspect it will still be a shock on the day. Hope you have a good week. #wotw

  6. It sounds like you've had a good week, and it's been a fairly busy one. I know what you mean about time seeming to go by quite quickly in spite of lockdown. We've found our routine has shifted too - we get up later and go to bed later but it works for us so I'm not complaining. Sounds like the girls have been doing well with school and college work this week. I can't believe that Becky will be nearly 18 in a few months! I love the face cushion gift idea though - that's brilliant. Glad there was enough paint for the decorating and good luck with getting more. #WotW
