Our weekly meal plan! 22nd - 28th February. #MealPlanningMonday

Our Weekly Meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went well, mostly. The slow cooked pork belly hog roast with apple sauce, herby baby potatoes, sweetcorn and honey roasted carrots was a huge hit despite my family not liking the sound of it. I have a feeling they might refuse carrots in future if they are not coated in honey. The chicken and chorizo rice dish did not go down well. My fella mentioned it tasted spicy and the kids followed suit and whinged all the way through eating it. They did eat it but NEVER want it again. lol You win some, you lose some. I wasn't keen either to be honest.

The kids were gutted on Friday evening when I said they weren't having pizza, we were having homemade fish & chips instead. They were looking forward to the pizza and were gutted but I said to them we were having a takeaway on Saturday instead, they soon got over it. We had burgers, pizza, garlic bread and chips. It was so good and there was leftovers for Sunday so all we had on Sunday evening were toasties.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Meatballs and spaghetti. I think I will cook the meatballs in the slow cooker.
Tuesday - I'm cooking extra meatballs and we're having them in rolls with cheese on.
Thursday - Pasta and baked beans. It's a recipe that I saw on A Mummy too and it looks so simple but has hidden veg.
Friday - Pizza.

  1. I love meatballs on rolls with cheese one! We've had it with mozzarella before as sloppy joes. Lovely!

    1. Ahh! I find it the lazy option. Whack everything in the slow cooker and leave it until we're ready to eat x

  5. Your meal plan last week got me inspired to finally get my meal planning in gear! I am trying fish and chips this week for the fist time ever. Though we are doing veggie fish, cause my family is vegetarian. I know it won't be the same, but we'll try to get the spirit of the dish, lol. What do you normally serve on the side? Also, I have to try your honey roasted carrots, my kids are not carrot fans at all. I made them eat them, but they are not happy about it.

  6. Hmm I fancy some fish and chips now (you can't get the real chip-shop style stuff in France, it just doesn't taste the same !). I'm very intrigued by the pasta and beans recipe - let me know how it goes ! (But I can't get beans here either anyway - I've run out of everything British as we haven't been over for a year now ! Not fair !)

    1. The pasta and baked beans was surprisingly good. I put a ton of carrots and onions in and the kids didn't notice. Hooray for hidden veg.
No, it's not fair you've ran out of everything British! A life without beans really is depressing x

  7. You have a great attitude about trying something and moving on and that's good for you and the kids.

DH and I have been working with a nutritionist and one of the things I love is she has helped me deal with one of my childhood eating issues and that is hiding food in food. Instead of "breaking" the habit she's helped me find healthier ways to hide food I should eat so I don't notice it or it doesn't taste odd. So we have cauliflower rice and other veggies for instance tucked in our meatballs and I actually like these meatballs better than before. So, instead of covering my veggies in cheese I'm hiding them in other forms that are healthier.

I have beats in a yogurt dip and a smoothie where I'd never eat beats if you put them on a plate in front of me. Sometimes it is finding ways use what people will eat to get them to try foods they might not other wise eat.

    1. Ahh! I think my "great attitude" has come from knowing there ain't no point in trying again because my girls are family is old enough to know their likes and dislikes.
I am glad the nutritionist is helping you. Eating foods in different ways is a good thing. I won't eat peas on a plate but will eat them if mixed with rice or in a casserole. x
