Our weekly meal plan! 18th - 24th October. #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Last weeks meal plan went well, really well. We did swap a couple of meals around but ate everything that I had planned. Hooray!

We should have got 3 meals from the two chickens that I cooked on Sunday but I forgot to put chicken into the pie with the leftover veg from the roast dinner. My family didn't question it and enjoyed the pie and it meant there was more chicken for the Irn-Bru chicken which I cooked in the slow cooker. It went down really well. It reminded me a lot like the diet cola chicken we've had in the past. We are going to try it with Dr Pepper next, my youngest has suggested Tizer but I think that's pushing our luck. lol We ended up making our own pizzas, well putting toppings on pre-made dough and treated ourselves to onion gravy with the sausage and mash! Yum, yum!

When I was doing the food shop for some reason I thought that Becky's girlfriend was coming to visit and to stay for tea tonight so I had planned to cook spaghetti bolognese as I know she loves it but I was wrong, Becky is only coming back from her girlfriends today after being there for a couple of days, it's next week she's visiting. Oh well, I have the bolognese stuff so will still make it.

Monday - Spaghetti bolognese & garlic bread.
Tuesday - Leftover bolognese in Old El Paso Stand ‘N’ Stuff tortillas covered in cheese.
Wednesday - Chicken and bacon pie with mash & veg.
Thursday - Heinz Original Beanz Burgerz with potato wedges.
Friday - Pizza.
Saturday - Burgers in buns with corn on the cob.
Sunday - Mince, dumplings, mash & veg.

What are you eating this week?

  2. We just got home from a little weekend away last night and while I did grocery shopping on the way home I haven't really decided which meals we'll be making this week. I know tonight we're having a small pork roast with roasted veggies and potatoes but that's as far as I've gotten. I have not even looked at our monthly menu!

  3. Fancy forgetting to put the chicken in the pie :) I love how you manage to stretch one meal over two days. I wish I could do that...it's a bit difficult with 7 of us. We had a roast dinner yesterday which was something we've not had for a while. Graham did all the cooking as I haven't been well. xx

  5. I like this overview of how to get through a week using what you have and some variations. This is always a great challenge as a mother keeping our kids interested in what we cook while providing them with adequate nutrition.

  6. Looks like a great week of meals! I'm normally the meal planner in our house but my fiance made our shopping list this week so I'm curious to see how we go. So far, he forgot the tofu for our tofu taco bowls, lol.

  7. I just started meal planning more seriously last week and it went really well, think it helped save money when grocery shopping!

These are great meals planned, and it's always great to be able to make something new with leftovers. I still need to get my list done for this week, but will definitely put oven fried potatoes with bacon and onions on the list. (https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/18905/oven-fried-potatoes-i/) It's been a while since we had it and everyone loves it!

  8. Love spaghetti bolognase but the kids are less keen so we don't have it very often. The mince and dumplings with mash and veg sounds very yummy. You've reminded me that I've promised to do homemade pizzas at some point so really should try and do that in the next week or so. #MMBC

  9. The Irn-Bru chicken sounds interesting, I will have to try that.
Bonus points for nobody noticing the chicken was missing from the pie, hehe. My lot probably wouldn't notice either!
Fab meal plan. The chicken and bacon pie with mash & veg sounds so good. x

  10. I just love how organised you are. I have no idea what we are having. I need to check that my older teen has food for work tomorrow actually.
