Feeding the goats. #MySundaySnapshot

It's that time of year when all the colleges are doing open days for the new starters in September and anyone is welcome for a look around. Ellie still has another year at secondary school but I think it is good to start looking around early just to get an idea what college is like.

Yesterday Ellie, myself, Ellie's friend and Ellie's friends mum went to a fun day at one of the local colleges. We had a good look around. The engineering department was amazing and Ellie said that is her happy place among all the tools and workshops but the animal care section was a lot of fun too. There was monkey's, rabbits, meerkats and lots of other creatures but what made me smile the most was the goats.

I never took this photo, Ellie's friends mum did but was kind enough to send me it.

Ellie had the chance to feed one of the goats, apparently they love the leaves on willow branches. Ellie was actually helping the staff out by keeping the goat in one place while they put sun cream on them. That is another thing I learned, goats can get sun burnt. Who'd have thought?

  1. I follow some sanctuaries on social media, but I didn't know goats can get sunburnt. Pigs need SPF cream because they have few hairs, so it's interesting to read that goats need some protection too. It looks like the weather was perfect for a day out.

  3. Oh, way cute! I love goats! And no, I had no idea that they can get sunburned, but it makes sense.

  4. The college sounds like a great place! It definitely makes sense to start thinking about it early, as Ellie will be all tied up with her GCSEs next year.
