This week my Word of the Week is: Busy! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Busy

What a week we have had. It seems like we have had so many exciting things going on over the past 7 days, we've been busy and I feel like I need a long rest over the weekend with at least one lie in.

Our busy week of course started with the new episodes of Stranger Things on Friday night. As soon as Ellie came in from school and got settled we started watching them. They were so good. She complained that the final episode of the season was too long at 2 and a half hours but if the episode had been split into separate one's we probably would have still watched them all in one night. lol Now we have to wait until 2024 for the final season! Eek!

On Saturday and Sunday we went to a nearby agricultural show. It was the same one that we went to the 2nd weekend that we had moved to Scunthorpe and since then it has been cancelled because of Covid so we were really looking forward to it. I will write a blog post about it eventually but we had the best time. Ellie and I met up with her friend and her friends mum on Saturday and then on Sunday Ellie, Stu and me went. Poor Becky had to work. We saw all the animals, displays on in the main ring, we ate so much lovely food and walked for miles. It was funny walking around the show with Ellie saying that's so and so, he's so and so's brother and that's that kid who... It feels like I saw everyone who went to Ellie's school including some of the teachers. lol It's funny, even Ellie at 14 years old still gets excited when she sees one of her teachers in everyday clothes, outside of school. lol

Stu had his day off work on Monday which I was so glad about as I had done no housework over the weekend, the house was a tip and I was glad of the help to get it back in order. Don't worry I didn't keep him busy all day, he had time to himself to faff about on his computer and in the garage. lol He has been busy at work and has found out that he gets bonus points whenever he successfully helps a customer which he can either save or trade in for gift cards when he has enough for the minimum. He is planning to save them up for Christmas and then get an Argos or Iceland gift card which will be a great help.

Becky had a stressful start to the week when she saw the rota at work. She was supposed to be starting full time hours but was given less than part time hours. It is all sorted now, phew and her hours are really adding up. She's not on full time nights any more, she is doing a couple of nights and more day shifts which should be interesting for her as she's only done day shifts for her induction when she first started work in September. She is going to be busy going to work and keeping up with her social life.

Ellie has had a good week at school. This time of year is always busy with so much going on. She had an Army Elite training day mid week, they had people from the army in doing team building exercises. The year 6's also came for their visit to the secondary school and Ellie was quite surprised to know a few of them. We also got Ellie's end of year report with her mock exam results in. A few years ago we were dreading her being at secondary school and doing her GCSE's but now we're feeling really hopeful. Her results were fantastic, way better than we could ever have dreamed of. She will still have lots of revision to do but she's heading in the right direction.

I was busy yesterday, I went to the cinema to watch the new Thor film. It is years since I have been to the cinema to watch a film that I really want to see, usually I just accompany the kids and see what they want to see. It was such a good film, I laughed all of the way through. It was a little sad and a little scary but I did laugh every time the goats screamed. lol Korg was just the best. hehehe

How has your week been? I hope you've had a good one!

  2. I love the picture with the archer on horseback as I'm always impressed by their skills, no matter how many times I can see it.
Well done to Ellie for getting those results. Also, good luck to Becky with her job, it will be a change to work full time. Busy is indeed the best word for the week. :)

  3. Sounds like a very busy week! The agricultural show sounded like a fun day out – lovely for Ellie to see lots of her school friends there too. Glad that things got sorted out for Becky with her hours and good luck to her with working full-time. Well done to Ellie on her school report – sounds like she’s doing really well. Hope you have a relaxing weekend and manage to recover from all the busyness! #WotW

  5. It sounds like the best kind of week though, filled with loads of fun. My son was just asking last night when we're going to go see Thor.
