This week my Word of the Week is: Eighteen! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

This week seems to have all been about Becky's 18th birthday and the kids going back to school and college. It has been a very exciting week but I am glad it's nearly the weekend so we can have a lie in.

Monday was the day the kids went back to school and college. I was worried and spent the day stressing, all for nothing. They had a great time and everything went well. They were happy to see their friends and got their new timetables. It turns out Becky is at college only one day a week with the rest of her time spent learning at home via Microsoft Teams and Zoom calls. Ellie is back doing French after having a year off from it, she loves her new form tutor and is glad to be in the same classes as her closest friends.

Stu and I went into town on Monday to get the last of Becky's birthday presents. They had a whole new set of clothes in Primark since we were last there just before Ellie's birthday in August. It was nice to be out just the two of us but town was busy. I think everyone had the same idea as us, drop the kids off at school and go shopping.

On Tuesday I wrapped Becky's presents and realised that she had more than I thought she did. Oops. It doesn't matter, she's only 18 once and on Wednesday I had the delivery of her birthday cakes along with the food shop. I had been on the Tesco grocery website the night before and spotted a xbox controller cake and a Friends one (the TV show) that were new and they are her two favourite things so they were perfect for her so I swapped the cakes I originally had in the basket.

We were up early yesterday morning so Ellie could see Becky open her presents. She was so happy with all of her presents and all of the money she received. She says thank you to everyone who wished her Happy Birthday on my social media accounts. For the first time in years she was at home all day for her birthday and really enjoyed it. Her girlfriend popped over for a bit and they spent some time together, we had a takeaway and she said it's the best birthday ever but it's not over yet, we have a meal out tonight and a couple more surprises for her.

  1. How lovely, it sounds like you've had a great week and Becky has had a great birthday. I love the cakes, the Xbox controller reminds me of a Playstation controller cake I made for a friend many years ago. I hope you all have a lovely weekend with lots more celebration, after all, you are only 18 once! I said it before but Happy Birthday Becky xxx

  2. I'm so glad that the girls have settled well back at school and college and that Becky had a lovely birthday. How nice to know that it was her "best birthday ever" as far as she was concerned. I love her birthday cakes - how amazing that you were able to get her two favourite things in cake form. Hope you enjoy more birthday celebrations over the weekend - as you say, you are only 18 once! #WotW

Getting back to school/college sounds like it is going well for your two. Hope Ellie continues to enjoy her French lessons. Long may it last. Hope you enjoyed your meal out. #wotw
