It is a busy time for farmers. For the last week or so I have seen them whizzing about in their tractors. I've heard them going past early on a morning and not coming back until gone midnight. Going past my house with empty trailers and coming back with them stacked with bales of hay or straw. I do love this time of year. It reminds me of being a kid when I lived on a farm. It was always a fun time of the year. My brother and I got to stay up late and there was always a takeaway when all the work was done.
There was much excitement during the week when we saw the farmer in the field behind us cutting whatever he had been growing. I am expecting that by now he's already been back to put it into bales and the field will be empty and the whole process will start again. The ploughing, planting, growing and harvesting.
It's been a great hay making season in our area due to the recent heat wave x
ReplyDeleteOh Kim. you're describing my childhood too and the view from your house looks glorious! I've been watching the farmers with interest this past couple of weeks too, first of cutting the grass for hay and then bringing in some of the corn while the weather was dry. Some of it looks very green still so I suspect it's a couple of weeks away from being harvested yet. Listen to me, boring old fool! I'm the first generation of my family not to be a farmer but I guess it stays with you.
ReplyDeletenever lived on a farm but I think I would love it
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous view from your window. I would have loved to grow up on a farm. The closest I got was staying over with my best friend at her auntie's farm.
ReplyDeleteThe farmer has been up and down our track all week, it's such a busy time for them all. x
Your view is amazing. I think I'd rather listen to tractors than some of the noises around here. x
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful farm views! My youngest sister used to go haying for the horse farm she worked at and while it was grueling work she just loved it.
ReplyDeleteNice to read about the hard working people. Farm life is so fascinating.
ReplyDeleteThey're busy around here too. I love seeing and hearing all the activity. It makes a happy hum. You really do have a fabulous view. #mmbc
ReplyDeleteThe look at the view amazing x #mysundayphoto

ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
What a lovely thing to read about and a lovely view of the fields. It is incredible the hours that farmers put in at this time of year. My brother worked on a farm as a teenager and we just didn't see him at haymaking time.
ReplyDeleteI lived in the countryside and spent a lot of time on the farm belonging to my friend's dad so I remember how busy this time of year can be. It's hard work.
