This week my Word of the Week is: Chuckle! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

I really struggled to come up with a word to describe our week this week. It has been normal, the kids have been to school and college, Stu has been to work and I've pottered about at home. There has been a few moments that have made me chuckle with my girls though. A couple with Ellie where if I hadn't have laughed at her I would have been shouting at her.

Ellie went out with her friends early on in the week and when Becky came in from college she was going to meet up with her so she gave her a ring and had her on speakerphone. Ellie answered the phone with a swear word and then continued to use the odd swear word during her conversation. It was only when Becky said I've got you on speakerphone she went Oh! I could just imagine her face and could hear the panic in her voice. They weren't bad, bad swear words but they are words that I don't want her saying. I gave her a talking to and I think she learned the lesson that anyone could be listening if you're on speakerphone.

Becky and I were watching Hollyoaks and a main character died but before he was announced dead she said he's either going to wake up with a hangover or he'll wake up dead. She really doesn't think about what she's saying. lol

Ellie has her HPV vaccine at the end of this month and I got a text from the school a couple of weeks ago saying the form will be sent home, it needed filling in and returned. Ellie never brought a form home she said they were getting handed out class by class so I waited and forgot about it until Wednesday when the school text again saying the forms needed to be in and they have spares at reception. I went and filled one in. I asked Ellie about the form when she got home and she said she had lost it, forgot it, the school had ran out of forms and that she can't actually have the injection because she's deaf in one ear. lol She isn't scared of needles in the slightest but has done everything she can so far to get out of having this one. She's having the injection next week.

I have got right in to doing cross stitch and up until this week it wasn't really looking like much but on Wednesday when Becky came in from school I showed her what I had done and she came over and patted me on the head and said "well done, I'm so proud of you". So patronising! lol I was also patronised by Ellie when I told her I had been nominated in the Tween and Teen Influencer category in the Mad Blog Awards. I got a well done and a pat on the back from her and then said I'm only nominated because of her & Becky. lol She's right, I wouldn't be writing about tween's and teens without them. I don't have a hope of winning but thank you to anyone who has nominated me.

Ellie went off to school with Becky's trainers yesterday for PE which caused a whole heap of arguments. They're a size too big but it didn't stop her. Her own were covered in mud. I am sick of telling her not to wear her PE trainers when she plays out but of course she doesn't listen. It was a battle of wills. She wanted them cleaned but wouldn't clean them and I wanted them cleaned but wouldn't clean them for her, she has to learn to do these things for herself. She did clean them and of course there was mud all over the bathroom sink which I made her clean up too. She was having such a stress about it, there was stamping and she shouted at me "just call me Cinderella because I do all the cleaning". She's such a little drama queen and it is so hard not to laugh at her when she's having a moment!

Becky had a couple of friends over yesterday and they were supposed to be doing college work but I suspect they spent more time messing about on TikTok. It took me all my effort not to go into the dining room and see what they were up to but I had been warned by Becky not to be too chatty, not to embarrass her and definitely don't try to be a cool mum. Eesh! I stayed in the living room and minded my own business and wrote this blog post. hehehe

  1. Kids never fail to entertain do they, I'm glad you managed to chuckle though, some parents are too rushed to punish. I really hope you get through to the MAD blog awards finals. Don't forget to go to the download page and pop a badge on your blog, especially if you have been nominated. Good luck xx

    1. Ahh! I didn't think about punishing Ellie. I know I swore when I was her age and I know both my girls swear but not in front of me. It taught her a lesson that anyone can listen to phone conversations. lol
I will add the badge. Thanks for the reminder. Good luck to you too x

  2. Love how they think they can pull a fast one on you.
My girls as younger teens did not bother when their friends came in as we had known most of them since they had been in nappies, but when we moved house when they were 14 and 16 they became a bit fussier
The swearing no doubt would be showing off to her pals, I have had that a few times from Fifi when she has been out with hers. #WotW

    1. Yep, I've been there and tried it when I was their ages. lol
I know she's just showing off to her friends. She has such a shock when she heard my voice though. hehehe

  3. So funny how Ellie was embarrassed by her language when she realized everyone heard her on speakerphone! My kids don't use swear words around me (usually)!

    1. At least she knew she was in the wrong. She was so shocked when she heard my voice. I think she's learned her lesson.

  4. I really enjoy your sense of humour. I just think it is so important with teens, especially, as you would cry of you took all their drama and bombast to heart. But it can actually be funny after a while! #WotW

    1. Life with teens is usually something like if you don't laugh you'd cry. x

    1. hahaha! Yep. I feel like a child when I get patted on the head. My dad did it today too and Becky laughed her head off.
The girls are awesome but they do like to test my patience. lol
      Thank you x

  7. Chuckle is such a lovely word for the week, and I have to admit I chuckled too while reading your post over some of the funny things your girls said and did this week. Oops to Ellie getting caught out swearing on speakerphone and the drama queen moment made me chuckle too. Good luck for the MADS x #WotW

  8. Children do come out with some crackers. Hats off to Ellie for trying her best to dodge the ja, but you were completely right to fill in the form. I can imagine the dramas over the trainers. Honestly if they put the effort into doing the job instead of all the histrionics, then life would be easier for all! Good luck with the MADs awards. #wotw
