I have been watching bits of the Olympics, mostly the Equestrian events and the gymnastics but one day was flicking through the channels and came across the climbing.
Wow! It was the speed climbing which got me hooked on it. The men were climbing up the walls faster than I ever imagined someone could. They were just like Spiderman! They were up the wall faster than I could even get up out of my armchair. I told the kids to look and they did and hardly moved for the whole of the climbing event. They loved it. Becky even asked me to record the women's final which was on Friday. lol
There were 3 parts to the event. The speed climbing, get up the wall as fast as you can. The Bouldering where they have so many minutes to solve four problems getting to the top and the Lead where they had 6 minutes to get to the top. I've been fascinated! The strength they have is amazing, especially in their fingers!
We caught a bit of the women's speed climbing on Saturday and all said the same thing! It's amazing how quickly they can scale those walls.

ReplyDeleteI caught some of the climbing too, the fast ones are amazing, well, they all are really. I'm kind of sad the Olympics are over, at least we have the Paralympics next x

ReplyDeleteI saw the women's climbing and, just like your kids, I glanced at it and was then instantly hooked. I couldn't believe they were getting up this wall in seven seconds!
