This week my Word of the Week is: Normal! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Normal

A fortnight ago Ellie was off school for half term and she kept me busy, last week we had builders in doing some work, Stu was decorating Ellie's bedroom and Stu and I had an unplanned night out. By Friday we were sick of all of the chaos in the house and wanted to make the most of Stu being off work so we took ourselves off to the pub for a meal.

This week has been all about getting to normal and it has been lovely getting back into some sort of a routine. The weather hasn't been great, it's not been that cold. I am sat here with the windows open but it has been wet. We've had that misty rain which doesn't look bad but does seem to get you soaked. I keep getting annoyed thinking that if it wasn't raining I could get a ton of washing dried as it's quite bright and breezy.

I say we've got back to normal but Ellie's bedroom still isn't finished. Stu ran out of time to get everything done. He still has to put a couple of shelves up so we still have a box or two of Ellie's things in our bedroom. Ellie loves her new room though. We took inspiration from the builders putting insulated boards on the living room wall and put some thinner boards up on Ellie's bedroom walls. They have already made such a difference to how warm her room is. She slept without one of her duvets and the window open the other night as she was so warm and it wasn't a particularly warm night.

I am slowly getting the house back to normal after the chaos of the last couple of weeks. We are still waiting for the builders to come back and finish the living room wall, I just want to get it painted but there's no point until the window has been boxed in.

On Tuesday Stu went back to work so it was my first day home alone in a while, Becky doesn't count. hehehe She was in bed sleeping after a night shift. It got to about 2pm and I was bored. lol I always think I like being alone but after having 2 weeks with people it takes some getting used to again.

On Wednesday I discovered that Sky had updated and ITVX was there so I could finally start rewatching The 100 so that has given me something to do. It was on E4 years ago but then I think Amazon got it so I've never rewatched it until now. Set 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse, on-board a dying space station running out of air. One hundred juvenile delinquents are sent back to Earth to see if it is habitable. On the ground they will be tested by the Earth, the secrets it hides and, most of all, themselves.

Ellie's new normal at school is doing mock exam papers. She only has a few months until her GCSE's start so it's all about exams at the moment. One day last week she had a full day doing photography, finishing off coursework and practicing for the GCSE exam. It's all practical work and there's no exam so the teacher is trying to teach them what they need to do to tick all of the boxes to get a pass.

We don't have much planned for the weekend, in fact all we have planned is to watch Saturday night TV. We do like Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and Starstruck. They are a couple of shows that we all watch together.

I hope you have all had a good week?

  1. Yay for getting back to normal and even having a day when you feel bored. Hopefully all the building and work will be done soon.

  2. It's so nice to get everything back to normal and start the routine again. Hope you get everything finished with Ellie's room soon. The 100 sounds like something I would really enjoy watching. I'll have to see if I can find it here. Although I seem to be having so much trouble staying awake to finish watching shows. When I watch The Last Of Us with Sam. He sometimes says "hey mum are you still awake". LOL! But I make sure that I'm fully awake for that show! Have a great weekend xx

  4. Normal is lovely after a week of chaos! Glad Ellie loves her new room and hope it is finished soon. I can imagine it must have felt very quiet being on your own after two weeks of a busy house. Good luck to Ellie with preparing for her GCSEs. #WotW

  5. Nice to get back to normal, or almost. What a difference the insulation must be making to your home. When you said that Ellie had taken inspiration from the builders, I thought you were going to say that her shelves were going to be made out of scaffolding planks! I loved the 100. We haven't watched the last series. Hope you enjoy it.

  6. Wow, so much is going on in the house, it sounds pretty chaotic. Fingers crossed, everything is finished very soon, and you can have your peace and quiet. I've never heard of The 100. We're currently watching all the LOTR with Edddie before moving on the Amazon series of The rings of power.
