My family and I call hoverflies fake wasps. Just glancing at them they look like wasps but they are much nicer. They don't have a sting which is good and they are just a lot less threatening. We have had loads in the garden over the last couple of months and this one came to pose for the camera. When I went to take a photo of the flower it wasn't there and landed just as I was ready to.

ReplyDeleteI was confused until I googled hoverfly and found that there is a hornet species... we call them fake hornets! What a great photo though, well done xx
