Our weekly meal plan! 7th - 13th of August. #MealPlanningMonday

Our weekly meal plan

Are we sick of the rain yet? I am! It is not feeling like summer at all, I should be wanting salads and snacky food. Not roast dinners and hot chocolates although if the weather forecast is right it should be dry and warming up mid-way through this week! Hooray!

Last weeks meal plan went well! We ate everything and on the day I had planned too! I feel like I am back on the I enjoy cooking bandwagon. I have had a shaky couple of months, hating cooking and being in the kitchen but I think it was just because we had a busy July and my head was full of other things. Ellie and I are even planning on doing some baking this week, well more of an experiment. We have seen these one minute cookies on TikTok and want to try making them.

This week I decided to buy 2 big chickens which should do us for a few meals. With online shopping I can never judge the size of things but these large chickens are pretty big which I am pleased about. I am planning a roast dinner using them. I haven't cooked a roast dinner for ages since we have been going out for one most Sundays but this week seems like a good week to cook one.

On the menu this week we have:

Monday - Chicken curry, egg fried rice and naan bread. I will just be using jars of curry sauce and adding onions and the cooked chicken.
Tuesday - A roast chicken dinner! A full on, proper one with chicken, roast potatoes and parsnips, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, pigs in blankets, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings and loads of gravy. I thought to myself it's just like a Christmas dinner!
Wednesday - Leftover roast dinner pie with mash. Becky was so happy about this meal even though she will be at work. She is taking her portion just so she can show her friend how good this pie is. hehehe
Thursday - Fish fingers, chips and baked beans. I feel like after all the cooking so far in the week I will want an easy meal to make.
Friday - Pizza.
Saturday - Lamb Doner Kebab with chilli sauce and chips. It's got to be cheaper than a takeaway.
Sunday - Toad in the hole, mash and veg. We're trying to save a bit of money so no more Sunday lunches out for the time being.

What are you eating this week?

  2. I haven't done a roast dinner for weeks either. I was just thinking I should do one soon. The lamb doner kebab looks interesting. Can't wait to see how that comes out :)

  3. This sounds like a really nice meal plan for the week! It's been really hot and humid where I live so I try to avoid having the oven on (stick to salads etc) but rainy days definitely make me want to have something comforting!

  5. Funny, as I'm reading this is it pouring rain outside. I am pretty sick of all this rain this year.

  6. It's a good idea to cook at home instead of going out. You might want to try something a bit more unusual those days, maybe an ingredient you haven't cooked with before. Of course, if everybody in the family is up to this. I love trying new stuff.
