What I have loved this week! Week 1. #FridayFavourites

Well this is new for me, doing a Friday Favourite post. I have been linking up with Erika and Andrea for their Friday Favorites on and off for the last few months with random blog posts but I want to do my weekly favourites instead of just a once a month thing so here we are!

Packing away Christmas.
As much as I have loved having the tree and decorations up it is nice to pack them away. We did that on Saturday and it was great to go into the new year with everything looking clean and tidy. I also got my girls to find homes for all of their gifts, all that has been left out is Lego that we need to do. Ellie got the Disney Up house and I have Dobby from Harry Potter and the Marvel Infinity Gauntlet to do.

Leftover Christmas food.
We have been eating the last of the party food and random things leftover from Christmas and New Years Eve. I always buy too many snacky things but it means at this time of year instead of feeling blue because it's January we have nice food to make us happy.

Walking!
I wouldn't say it was a new years resolution but I have made a promise to myself to get outside for a walk every day and so far so good, mostly. I am not walking miles but I am walking more than I generally do which is a good thing. Even on Tuesday when it was chucking it down I went to town and did some walking. I was glad my youngest is still on her Christmas break from college so she could run me a bath and I could get warmed up.

Instagram top 9

I love being able to see what my top Instagram posts were over the year.
I expected all of these to be in my top 9 photos of the year! They were all big moments: GCSE results, my eldest cutting her hair short, all of us dressed up and my youngest girls prom! 2023 was good to us.

This has been on over the past week, a 4 part drama on ITV. One of the greatest miscarriages of justice in British legal history where hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses were wrongly accused of theft, fraud and false accounting due to a defective IT system.

I have really enjoyed watching Mr Bates vs The Post Office. It was so shocking, I do vaguely remember hearing about the Post Office scandal in the news but didn't realise how many people's lives were effected. Losing their jobs, having to fight so much to clear their names and some even lost their lives all while the big bosses tried to cover up the computer mistakes.

Spending time with my youngest.
Ellie doesn't go back to college until Monday so I have had plenty of time with her over the last week. We haven't done anything exciting, it has just been nice to be together watching tv, talking and having a giggle.

My favourite blog post.
My favourite blog post of mine from the last week was my Project 365 post. I have completed another year of a photo every day and I am continuing it this year. It is a great way to record those every day moments which are not usually worthy of a blog post.

What have been your favourite things from the past week?

  1. I've not watched Mr Bates yet, but I will catch up with it at some time. I have followed the story on the news and it's shocking, even more so that it's still not completely resolved. I'm packing away Christmas tomorrow when I feel a bit better, although if I'm honest I only put the tree up this year and a few Christmas cards. I didn't bother with any other decorations.

  3. We've been walking most days but today it said it was only 19 and felt like 8 out so we elected to pass on that! I think my favorite thing from this week was driving my mother in law home from the hospital (finally!!) :)
