Hello there and happy Friday! I hope you have all had a good week? I am linking up with Erika and Andrea for their Friday Favorites and I have quite a few of my favourites to share from this past week.
Saturday Night TV.
As a family when my eldest isn't at work we like to sit in front of the TV and enjoy what's on and each other's company. We like to watch quiz shows and things like The Masked Singer where we end up playing along and making guesses. This weekend see's the return of Gladiators which I used to love watching in the 90's. It seems all the old TV shows are coming back, we are really loving Wheel of Fortune, well I am because I am good at word games. hehehe
Dry January.
I usually like a glass of wine or two on a Friday and Saturday evenings but so far in January I have had no alcohol and I really don't fancy it. I hadn't planned on doing dry January but it might be happening. I have been finding other drinks to enjoy instead. Ginger beer, iced tea and root beer.
Pink nails!
I got a gel nail set for Christmas and I am really enjoying doing my nails. I had them red and sparkly over Christmas and new year but I wanted something a little more bright and cheery so I went for pink!
Routine.
We are well and truly back into our normal routine, there are no more lazy, slow mornings, the alarm clocks go off at 7am. We're going to bed earlier than we have been and I feel like I am back on top of the housework, not the laundry though as I've not been able to get anything out on the line and the clothes airer's take forever. We are hoping to get a tumble dryer soon which will make like a lot easier.
Eating real meals.
We really indulged over Christmas so it has been nice to getting back to eating home cooked meals. I ordered a Gousto box which really helped with the meal planning and getting back on track. We have eaten better over the last week and I feel like I am back into a routine with cooking and I am actually enjoying being back in the kitchen again.
Fruit Mochi.
A few years ago everyone went crazy here over Little Moons Mochi ice cream. That was the first time I had heard of Mochi but last week when we were in town we went into the Chinese Oriental shop and they sell a hole host of Asian food including the Fruit Mochi which I bought. Mochi is cute round buns made of soft and chewy rice. It came in 3 flavours, passionfruit, plum & pomelo. Have you head of pomelo before? I hadn't, it is the largest citrus fruit, and an ancestor of the grapefruit. Well you learn something everyday! It was my favourite of the 3 flavours and I will be back to the shop to buy more.
A roast dinner!
We tend to go out for a roast dinner on a Sunday to a little cafe near us which does the best food but on Sunday it was still closed from their Christmas break and I had a real craving for a roast dinner so made one. Not counting Christmas dinner it seems ages since I made a roast. It was so good apart from all the washing up that needed doing.
Having a day with my eldest.
On Tuesday I spent the whole day with Becky, my eldest. She has been sleeping for or after work (she works night shifts) or busy doing her own thing with friends and people in her life. It's the first day since Christmas that she has had nothing at all to do and we just spent the day at home doing every day things and enjoying each other's company.
What have you loved over the past week?
I love your pink nails! They look like you've had them done at a nail salon. Mine are never very neat when I do my own. I still have two more weeks before I have to start getting back into routine and I'm not looking forward to it. I hope the next few days go by real slow! I've tried mochi cakes before but not the mochi ice cream. The cakes have a soft texture which takes a bit of getting used to but I do like the flavour. How nice to spend the whole day with Becky, as they get older it gets harder so it's always a nice treat to be able to spend time together. Have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeleteThe pink nails are fun. Your roast dinner sounds good too. I haven't made one in a while.
