This week my Word of the Week is: Starting! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

The word Starting

Over the weekend I dyed my hair and for the first time ever it went wrong. I am starting to think with the money I've spent on dye this past week I should just get it professionally  done or just dye it all grey. Usually I put the lightener on so it goes blonde and then add the colour I want. Every time I have done it, it's worked but not this time. I wanted dark purple and ended up with pink with light purple patches. Oops. Ellie said I looked like a unicorn. lol

A purple dye which I was aiming for and what my hair ended up like. Pink and purple patches.

First thing Monday morning I sent Stu off to the chemist to get me some red hair dye to cover the purple and that went on perfectly! Better than I've ever had it. I think next time I want to change the colour drastically I am going to have to strip all the colour off instead of just lightening it.

I got to series 4 of Torchwood and fell out of love with it when all the Americans came into it. Hmmf. So I started to watch the Peter Capaldi episodes of Doctor Who. I've only ever watched those episodes once, I wasn't keen on him but I have been enjoying it 2nd time around. I don't know why but I totally forgot about the series with Bill. I thought it went from Clara, to the Doctor travelling alone then he regenerated into the Doctor we have now. I forgot how good she was and forgot all about Missy & The Master being in it again!

My teen has had the winter off work. She works in a shop but for one reason and another it's only open over the warmer months. She got the phone call to say they want her back in the next couple of weeks. She's excited and I am too. Since Christmas she has been spending more and more money on days out with friends, xbox credit and money for her phone so I have had her helping more around the house to earn it and I've been struggling to find her jobs. I could just give her the money but I want her to learn that to get money she has to earn it.

I finally got on with starting my new cross stitch pattern. It's going to be a cute little fox. I got off to a good start. It seemed easier than my last one but once I had done a few rows of blue I had to start using my brain and counting. hehehe I am still enjoying it though.

My new cross stitch pattern. Blue and orange stitches.

It is starting to feel a lot more like spring. My garden is sprouting flowers which we haven't seen before and there seems to be less rainy days. I am thinking ahead to Easter and I'm trying to make some plans but it is hard with the girls who seem to have a packed social life a the moment with their friends.

It's come to the point now where I am starting to worry about the Coronavirus. I am totally blaming Facebook and Twitter for this with fake news and people going way over the top This is the first week it has effected me. I couldn't get a shopping delivery slot for the first time ever over the weekend and I am guessing people are panicking about going to supermarkets. Thankfully our freezers and cupboards are full of food and I can nip to our local shop for bread and milk until I can get a delivery next week.

  1. It will be good for Becky to start earning her own money. I know what you mean about running out of jobs around the house to pay them for. It's lovely that you are getting into cross stitch. I started one I had for Christmas but I still haven't finished. As you can probably tell from my post today, I'm starting to worry about the Corona Virus too. I think we all should be xx

  2. The situation with the shops is crazy isn't it? We've had to book further ahead than usual for our grocery slot too and no doubt there'll be more items unavailable than usual. I'm also grateful for our local shop and being able to pop down the road for essentials. I'm glad you managed to get your hair sorted out and fingers crossed for Becky with getting back to work. Will look forward to seeing your new cross-stitch when it's finished. #WotW

  3. That is good that Becky's job is starting again. I bet she's pleased. The shops have gone crazy. I can't help thinking that shopping is one thing that people feel they can control. So they do. I popped in for sugar over the weekend, with eldest teen, and she was stunned by the toilet roll aisle being stripped clean. Looking forward to seeing your latest stitching grow. Glad your hair was sorted. Hope you have a good weekend. #wotw

  4. You are so brave with your hair color choices. It looks good! I am starting to worry about the coronavirus here in the US too. It seems like the level of concern went from zero to panic is no time at all! Stay safe!

    1. It beats going grey. lol
From what I've read over in the US they seem to be doing more to prevent by shutting schools and stopping more. That has yet to happen here.

  5. Bet Becky is so glad to be back at work, teens need money ! I love cross-stitch but haven't done it for years! Omg Kim next time let a hairdresser do it I bet you have spent just as much? But I bet the red looks fab? I wasn't worrying but do feel a little more uneasy now! I think because of the cruise blog we have seen a lot behind the scenes, and followed the news very closely and I am not sure thats been a good thing. Stay safe xxx
