(Ad - Gifted) Brainbox Animals and Dobble Harry Potter from Unbox Now!

Given the chance my girls would spend all of their free time on their computers, phones and electronics in general but after Ellie was spending too much time online I thought it would be a good thing to find them alternative things to do during the Easter holidays and with the weather not looking so great we would have to find something to do inside. Thankfully we have been sent a couple of games from Unbox Now which should keep us amused for quite a while.

Asmodee, the leading distributor of games in the UK. Together with their sister company Coiledspring Games distribute some of the world’s best games such as Dobble, Bananagrams, BrainBox, Catan, Ticket To Ride, The Mind & the Pokémon Trading Card Games.

These are the type of games that I like, easy to understand, and with not to many rules. Lots of them can played just about anywhere and even taken on your travels too.

BrainBox Animals

This popular 10 minute brain challenge game is both entertaining and educational, the kids won't even notice they are learning from it!

To play, you must study a card for 10 seconds before answering a question based on a die roll. If you successfully answer the question you keep the card and after 10 minutes, the person with the most cards is declared the winner.

The game tests your eye for detail, with all the answers on the card but with only 10 seconds to study and remember! You won’t get bored either as they are over 38,000 questions to answer. It is harder than it looks and you soon realise that 10 seconds isn't that long at all.

We were sent the Animal Brainbox game but there are lots of different variations to choose from including Football, Maths, The World, Dinosaurs, Animals, Once Upon a Time, French and that famous wizard, Harry Potter!

Suitable for those age 7+ and great for 2 or more players. It is perfect for families to play together where everyone will be having fun.

Brainbox is also made from a minimum of 70% recycled material and designed in the UK, so you can play happily knowing you’re making a difference to the environment as well.

Dobble - described by celebrity fan Holly Willoughby as the ‘best game ever’, Dobble is the smash hit observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes, Dobble creates excitement for children and adults alike while keeping every player involved in the action.

The basic way to play Dobble:

Each card in Dobble features eight different symbols, with the symbols varying in size from one card to the next. Any two cards have exactly one symbol in common. For the basic Spot it! game, reveal one card, then another. Whoever spots the symbol in common on both cards claims the first card, then another card is revealed for players to search, and so on. Whoever has collected the most cards when the deck runs out wins! There are several other ways to play too but we always seem to stick with the simple one, it works for us and we have so much fun with it.

We were sent the Harry Potter version of Dobble but there are lots of different variations to choose from including LOL Suprise, The Gruffalo, Animals, Pixar, Marvel, Minions and many more.

Up to 8 people can play from 6 years old and each game can take anything from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

These are both great games which all ages can play. My girls are 14 and 19 years old and they loved them both but especially Dobble. We have all had great fun with these games over the weekend and will be playing them plenty more in the weeks, months and years to come. I imagine them being brilliant when we are sat in the garden during the summer.

I was sent these games free of charge in exchange for this blog post.

  3. Sometimes the simplest games are the most fun. We have lots of similar games. I like the Brainbox games, I think we could be very competitive with a game like that. xx
