This week my Word of the Week is: Shopping! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

Shopping

I feel I am so late in writing my Word of the Week blog post. Usually I write it on a Thursday morning or at the latest the afternoon but here I am early in the evening writing it because I have been out all day shopping with Becky.

We went shopping to Hull as she wanted to buy my birthday present and this was the only day she could fit me into her hectic life. hehehe All I wanted was a cheap pair of boots from Shoezone but as they were so cheap she decided that I needed 2 pairs. A comfy fake Ugg type boot and the nicer, dressier pair with heels. She still ended up paying less than she had budgeted for me so everyone we were both winners.

A trip out shopping isn't complete without a look around Primark where I bought our Christmas pj's. I got some for the 4 of us, the Grinch one's, green top and stripey bottoms. The kids and I think they are brilliant but Stu is being a proper Grinch and says they're awful. He of course will be wearing them on Christmas eve. hehehe I also treated my self to a couple of smart tops as I have a few plans over the next couple of months where I will need to dress up a little. It's been years since I bought any really nice going out tops, I think I was long overdue them.

We didn't get a food shop over the weekend, we didn't need one as I have been trying to run the freezer down but we did get one in the middle of the week and I'd say 90% of it was to put away for Christmas. Tubs of chocolate, selection boxes, wrapping paper, a few extra presents and some bottles of J2O which we only ever buy at Christmas. Only a couple of the selection boxes were substituted from the Christmas stuff but it was the normal everyday things like loo roll, ham and brioche buns which weren't available. Ugh.

I feel like I am already pretty prepared for Christmas. I have even been online on the Asda grocery website and started adding stuff to the list for the Christmas food shop. I love that now Halloween and Bonfire night is over all the grocery shops are filling up with Christmas stuff. I am waiting for Iceland to get their full range of party food in before I do an order with them and to get the turkey.

How has your week been?

  1. Wow you are so organised! I've not even thought about Christmas food yet, the slots open next week for Tesco I think so we'll get one booked in and then perhaps I'll think about adding some bits in. I love a Primark shop, we don't have one locally so it's a special trip out for us a couple of times a year when I fill up the kids wardrobes will all the seasonal things they've grown out of, along with a few bits for myself!

  3. That’s so great that you are so well prepped for Christmas. I love hearing about the stores and products that you buy because I have never heard of many of them. I am always fascinated by shops and grocery items from around the world. I think that the pj’s sound great but I did have a chuckle about Stu being a Grinch about them. Hope you have a great weekend xx

  4. I'm so jealous that you are so prepared for Christmas. I have made a start now though. I worked out my budget this morning and I've ordered a few things. I don't think we've ever had Christmas pjs! I do have my Christmas shopping delivery booked, although my basket only contains a few veg and chocolate so far. xx

  5. You do sound like you love shopping! And good on your daughter for getting you those. That must be a good feeling. Shhh! We'll be away for Christmas this year so don't need much. I hope Iceland has a good selection. I love looking at the spread even though I can't have most of it. Enjoy!

  7. We need to get our freezer down a bit; after our Thanksgiving next week I will turn to Christmas planning (dinner anyway; I do have most of my gifts bought already!).

  8. Wow you are prepared for Christmas I haven't even thought about it. Well I have ordered our M&S dinner. I get that as that's the only way I know how to cook a Christmas dinner lol I think we will give matching PJs a miss this year as I really need to budget and be good. Your shopping trip sounds very successful. A result for you both #WotW

  9. The Doctor Who figurines look great and what a fantastic bargain too. Your new fire looks so lovely and shiny and it must be so warm too. How frustrating that you had to wait so long for Ellie’s appointment because of a mistake. I’m glad that it’s all sorted now, all the best with the upcoming appointment. Xx
