My hobbies! #NotJustAMom

Here I am linking up with the Not Just A Mom ladies: Adrienne at Mom Life With Adrienne, Dara at Not In Jersey, Jen at Show Me and Sweet Tea, Joanne at Slices of Life, Lauren at Don't Mind our Mess and Sarah at Toronto Sam.

This months prompt is: Hobbies which I found hard to write about at first, I thought to myself that I don't really have any hobbies until I had a good think and came up with quite a few things that I like to do in my spare time.

baking

Blogging!
I have been blogging for over 10 years, I don't make money from it and do it in my spare time so it must be classed as a hobby albeit a very time consuming one. When I started blogging I didn't realise how much of my time that it would take up but I have got so much from it, not just things sent to me to review but I have made some amazing friends who I would never have met without blogging and I have a record of our life from the last 10 years, seeing my girls growing up and being able to look back on my blog to see all those every day and exciting moments. At the moment I can't imagine not blogging, I think I might be here for another 10 years at least. hehehe

Cooking/Baking.
I go through phases of loving being in the kitchen and then hating it but when I am in the mood for cooking I will get carried away and cook new meals and bake up yummy treats!

Playing The Sims!
I have played the Sims games since I was pregnant with my eldest and she is 21 now. Sometimes when life is a bit too much or stressful I can play and escape real life and control my Sims. Building dream houses, getting to the top of a certain career, falling in love, having a family and even getting some pets. My favourite thing to do is start with nothing and no money on an empty lot and go from nothing to being a millionaire. It was quite the challenge to start with doing odd jobs to earn money to feed my Sim and I was so happy to buy a tent to live in, now I have a medium sized house and I'm just about to get married. On a previous game I got married and within 24 hours my new husband died from laughing. I didn't even know that was a thing. lol

Gardening.
I feel so lucky to have a good sized garden, I hate cutting the grass but I always have fun planting and growing things. I have done well over the years with tomatoes, peppers, podded peas, pumpkins, various flowers and so far this year my biggest success is my sweetcorn, it's still not ready but it's getting there.

Binge watching TV shows.
I love getting hooked on a TV show and watch and episode and just have to watch another. Some of my favourites are Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Stranger Things, Doctor Who, Orange is the new Black, Breaking Bad, Prison Break and Grey's Anatomy. I have just subscribed to Amazon Prime so I am working my way through Fear the Walking Dead.

What are your hobbies?

  1. I think that blogging definitely counts as a hobby, I'd call it one of mine! I also read a lot, journal and attempt to illustrate it, and various other crafty things which come and go as the mood takes me!

  3. What a fun list of hobbies; blogging is definitely my most time consuming hobby as well but I love having this record of our family to look back on. I think it is hilarious that your Sim husband died from laughing-- who knew it could be so deadly?!

  4. I don't know that I ever would have guessed how much time blogging takes up. But I love it so much!

  5. It's unbelievable how much time blogging takes and I'm glad you say that. Sometimes I overthink things and then it takes me even longer! But I can't imagine giving it up. I laughed so much at your husband dying from laughing in The Sims. I like playing it too when things get too much in real life. I've only played Sims Freeplay on my iPad. It's been ages since I've played, the poor things must be starving!
