This week my Word of the Week is: Settled! #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

It is 10 weeks yesterday since we moved house. It was a big move. The kids left the school they were at, Becky was leaving anyway after her GCSE's but she was leaving everything she knew. Stu left his job at a high street shop and I didn't have much to leave apart from my friends and the comfort of knowing what was what where we lived.

Within the couple of weeks of moving house our new house felt like home but we weren't fully settled, it has taken a while but we've finally got there.

Stu has a new job which he is loving, the kids have both settled in brilliantly to their college and school. Becky started college on Monday and is already used to getting the bus there and back which was my biggest worry and Ellie is loving school. She only started on Wednesday but so far so good. She seems so much happier at her new school. She had a meeting and met the SENDCO and the hearing women who had a chat with her about her deafness in her right ear. They gave me a ring to check everything Ellie had said was right and if she needed anything within the school to help. I said as long as she's at the front of the class she's fine.

I feel like I have found a routine for myself especially over the last couple of days while Ellie has been at school. On Wednesday on her first day I went to my dad's to take my mind off how she was doing. I took my laptop and sat in his office tweeting and doing a bit of blogging. The change of scene was fantastic. I chatted to his partner and just pottered around his place. I liked it. I think when I don't have things to do at home I will be at his house. Yesterday Becky was off college so we went to see my dad and then went for a bike ride.

Next week we should be more into a new routine. I still can't get my head around the fact that Becky is only at college 3 days a week. She has found a part time job, helping out in a shop on a Friday and Saturday so that should keep her busy and give her a little bit of money to keep her hot chocolate addiction going at college. We still won't be fully in a routine as it's Becky's birthday on Tuesday. She wants a party tea and of course a cake which is fine with me!

  1. It's so wonderful to hear that you are so settled in your new home and new lives. Moving house can be difficult, especially when you move so far, but I guess having family around has helped. We only moved 5 miles away and although the young ones are fine, I think we adults still find it difficult. It's lovely having a bigger house so we are not cramped and under each other's feet all the time, but we don't like the area much at all. You are very lucky to be so happy :) xx
